"I hired Mark Miller Cleaning to do an entire house cleaning of a newly purchased home. They cleaned the carpeted and hard floors, lights, cabinets/tops, toilets and fixtures, and the inside and outside of the windows (which they recommended and I'm so glad they did). They did everything in a day. It wasn't perfect with a few spots missed, but it was a tough job to start with and they worked really hard and quickly. However, whether an individual carpet gets recycled is up to the flooring company that removes it. When gathering quotes for new flooring in your area, ask each company about removal options and what they do with the material.

Carpet is most often affixed to the floor by tacks in tack strips rather than nailed or glued directly to the subfloor. The tack strips are nailed to wood subfloors. Even if you want to install carpet over concrete, you’ll adhere the tack strips to the concrete with masonry nails or a liquid adhesive.
