Welcome to Miracle Motor Werks! We are a small, family owned business, started in March of 2012 by a husband and wife. Mike Miracle (tech) and his wife Mindy Miracle (office) started Miracle Motor Werks LLC in our backyard in a pole building. Mike has worked on cars for over 15 years. Mike is currently attending Ashworth College for his certification in auto mechanics, and Mindy is working on her AA in Business Management, also at Ashworth College. Miracle Motor Werks grew faster than we had thought, and we re-located the business to our current location of 524 Oakland Avenue. We moved here in March 2012 and are continuing to grow. We pride ourselves in our personal relationships with our customers being on a first name basis with them. Quality is of the utmost importance to us. We will not send something out the door that we wouldn’t trust out own children to be safe in. We take pride in our name and our work. Along with our work, we have very low rates. Our shop rate is the lowest in town! We have monthly discounts and offer a 10% discount to all military, police officers and firefighters! "Making a personal connection with you and what drives you!"

Welding questions, answered by experts

A steel beam is stronger than a wood beam and requires fewer vertical supports underneath, which means it’s a better option for larger structures or if you want an open space under your home that doesn’t have posts as obstructions. However, steel I-beams cost more than wood ones, and they can be difficult to install retroactively, as getting them into the basement area can be challenging, if not impossible.

Steel I-beams are an increasingly popular choice for supporting a structure because they support a large amount of weight with a small profile and without the need for load-bearing walls or supports underneath. This allows for more open floor plans, which most people tend to prefer. They also resist fire, pests, and rot and last for the lifetime of your home.

The difference between a lintel and a beam is what loads each is responsible for supporting. A lintel is a type of beam that is responsible only for supporting the load above an opening, such as a window or door, and transfers the weight to the side walls around an opening. A beam supports the slab and transfers the load to nearby columns, which then disperse the load to the ground.

Yes, an LVL beam is more affordable than the cost of a steel I-beam, totaling between $50 and $200 per linear foot as opposed to the $100 to $400 per linear foot you’d pay for a steel I-beam. Not only is the wood material more affordable than steel, but it’s also more similar to traditional wooden beams and doesn’t require as much retrofitting to connect joists.

You should pick steel for your new support beam for a few reasons. While steel is more expensive than other materials, such as laminated veneer lumber or glulam, it offers the following benefits:

  • Fire-resistant

  • Unaffected by pests

  • Longer-lasting

  • Stronger against water damage (when galvanized against rust)
