"We had a chainlink fence put up for my dogs to play in back yard. Added gates for easy access to mow with rider. Also had privacy slats put in around the patio. They set the posts the first day and finished the fencing the next day. They did a great job. Nice friendly crew to deal with."

"K & L Excavating removed an inground fuel oil tank, hauled it away and filled in the hole. I was impressed with their professionalism and they left the area looking great. They had the right equipment and were cleaned up and gone in 2 hours and 45 minutes."

I am a 27 years old self employed entrepreneur. That wants to help give back to the community with the best prices, and the greatest quality of fencing/decks around. I know and understand that I don’t have much of a portfolio. However, please don’t let that steer you away, as myself and my partner have plenty of experience in these types of construction. I myself worked for a company that done cell tower sites (fencing) and now I’m ready to step out on my own. I have built many decks in the past, and I can assure to anyone that you will get great quality work. All of the work that comes through our company is warrantied for 1 year. This covers normal damage/lumber defects, staining not upholding for the length of time, or it just doesn’t uphold our customers standards (to a certain extent). I hope to work with each everyone of our customers, and look to start getting things scheduled.

Driveway Gates questions, answered by experts

To make your gate safe, purchase a gate made from strong material such as wrought iron, stainless steel, or other metals. Ensure that the gate has strong joints and bars that are welded on rather than inserted loosely. If you’re concerned about people climbing over your gate, you can deter them by installing fence spikes along the top as an extra precaution.

Yes, you can convert manual gates to electric operation. Installing a motor and an opening device from a kit allows you to convert any gate so it can open and close automatically. Be sure to buy the correct type of opener for your gate style. For example, some openers are specific to swinging gates, while others are for sliding gates. Get familiar with your swinging or sliding gate parts before you go shopping to avoid having to return to the store for the correct opener.

Yes, clean regularly, lubricate hinges or tracks, and inspect for damage to ensure smooth operation.

Ideally, a gate should be able to swing both in and out. However, if it can only open in one direction, it is generally best for it to swing inward. This is often the safest option, especially for deck gates near steps, as you'll want the gate to swing away from the stairs. An inward swing also prevents the gate from opening into a public space, like a sidewalk, and can be more convenient when carrying heavy items like a wheelbarrow into a garden.

There are exceptions, however. The layout of your property may require a different approach. For example, if your property is on a slope, the gate may not be able to swing inward. You should also ensure the gate can open fully without colliding with any objects or blocking access to other areas. For a backyard garden gate where public access isn't a concern, the direction it swings is largely a matter of personal preference. Finally, always check your local building codes, as they may have specific requirements for which way a gate must swing.

Double gates come with the same gaps as single gates, with hinges taking up a quarter of an inch of space. The difference is that double fence gates also have a center gap, which needs a little more clearance. Space the center gap at half an inch instead of the usual three-eighths of an inch for a single gate.
