"Sam and his crew were outstanding from start to finish! Sam's son, Lavern, was great on keeping us informed along the way. Definitely recommend to anyone looking to do an addition to their home. They also did a great job on reroofing entire home. The new garage addituon looks like it was built when the house was originally built. Great quality work and attention to detail! Outstanding job and a job well done!!!!!"

"I was very impressed with Sentri Homes - their customer service was excellent. They sent a subcontractor to install some vinyl laminate in my bathroom and he ended up getting glue all over the carpet in our bedroom. The sub ended up ghosting both me and Sentri, leaving me stuck with a ruined carpet. Sentri stuck with me for over a month to get the carpet replaced with the identical original and to get the vinyl job 100% completed. The carpet was a Home Depot exclusive and Sentri handled everything with them. I will be using Sentri for a much bigger renovation I have coming up soon, because I know that they will make sure everything gets done right no matter what problems come up. The vinyl looks great too."

"I went through 2 other local contractors before finding Mike Bertoli at BGC Management. The other two never showed up to do the jobs and never called to explain why. They wouldn't return my calls to them after waiting all summer. It was quite frustrating! I went through Home Advisors and Mike called me and made an appointment to come and see the roofing, siding, soffits, and gutter projects that I had. He called me when he was going to be 10 minutes late. How refreshing! He listened to what I needed done, and had an estimate the next day. He is very personable, and had great attention to detail. The cost was extremely fair. He had a crew to do my metal roof exactly when he said he would, and the same with the siding crew that also did my soffits and gutters. He's kept in contact along the way. My house is absolutely beautiful . This company deserves to have a 5 star rating. They keep their word and do quality work at a very fair price. I couldn't say enough good things about them as my experience has been stellar Thank you, Mike & Bruce. I will recommend them to anyone that needs any work done."

"Outstanding. Nick stopped by ahead of time to assess our situation. He sat down with us and explained exactly what they would be doing. Their price was more than fair and lower than the other two quotes we received. The workers were professional and courteous and respectful of my space. I work from home, and they were very respectful when I would have calls. The end result was beautiful. They made the ceilings all flush where the load bearing walls were - something neither of the other two places offered or even seemed to know how to do. They even came back after we painted and installed all of my new light fixtures for me. And, Nick stopped by later to see the house completed. We will be using them anytime we have a need for a contractor. Knowledgeable, fair, and good, quality work. Also, the guys are great singers. :)"

Home Building questions, answered by experts

Most cottages are around 1,000 square feet, making them smaller than most other styles. However, cottages are defined more by their decor and architectural focus on simplicity, functionality, and a connection to nature than they are by a rigid square footage or floor plan. While cottages are defined more by their charm and appearance than size, the smaller footprint does help maximize the comfort and charm, and it keeps the focus on connection to nature and family.

Local regulations dictate how big an ADU can be, and there may also be restrictions on the percentage of the main residence’s square footage an ADU can have. In most cases, an ADU must be smaller than the main residence, but check with your local building authority to confirm restrictions on ADU size.

Renovating or remodeling an existing structure is usually less expensive than the cost to build a new house. That’s because you can save on the costs of new building materials, laying a foundation, framing the entire building, and installing new materials and utilities throughout the house. However, if a home is in very poor condition or is incredibly old, you could spend more on upgrades and restoration compared to building from scratch.

In most cases, you should get an architect before you hire a builder. An architect will be the one to draw up formal plans for your project, including guidelines and even material lists for your builder to follow during construction. Many architects can even help you find builders, choose one for your project, and negotiate prices. Some are also willing to act as project managers throughout the process, working closely with a builder from start to finish.

Modular homes can go up or down in value depending on a few factors. In areas where real estate is appreciating, the value of modular homes is likely to increase, and vice versa. Additionally, the value of modular homes depends partially on the area. In cities where every other home is stick-built, modular homes might be considered a functional obsolescence, in which case they could be less desirable and go down in value. In either case, though, modular homes can still be a good investment, especially since they provide housing at a lower upfront cost.
