"Melin and his crew were very friendly, professional, knowledgeable and skilled. They were able to get our job completed before the projected completion date. They didn't cut corners in fixing our corn crib and barn, priming and painting them. They look better than when we purchased our property 28 years ago. The first 2 are the before and the last 2 are the after pictures. They were out working in below freezing weather this weekend to get our job completed. Will definitely hire them again! They are a 10 out of 10 - outstanding!!"

"They responded to my call immediately and were very open and honest about costs/expenses. We had our bathtub refinished today, so not sure how this will wear, but it looks great. The man who came out to do the work was on time, worked straight through, and left everything clean."

"We researched quite a bit and so knew this was a product/company we wanted to do the work. The sales guy came to give a quote and it took 3 and half hours!!!! He played games, (you get points for being a public servant, nurse, educator, which leads to discounts in some unexplained formula)  he rambled on and on, he had to call his team lead to negotiate price and wait for a call back..  We just wanted a quote!!! He was a really nice guy but my time is so important!  We had to watch the same video we had seen on line when we were researching.
When it came time to do the work there were delays.  We became the project managers and it took a lot of time. One example is that one day the painters asked my husband what color the ceiling on the porches should be...despite copious notes they had taken they could not figure out that the front porch ceiling was to be white and the back was beige.  My husband, not having written down what I had decided told them the opposite.  So I am not happy about that, but my husband felt it was his fault for telling them wrong...they wrote it down!! (we actually had decided this becuase the sales guy did a big push saying the white would reduce lighting needed on the front porch and we would have less of a need to leave the porch light on at night-so much for that)
The project took so long to be complete that we lost the use of our screened porch for over a month, resulting in cancelling family get togethers we had planned.
I have hybrid roses, and in the video and the sales pitch they go on and on about covering and protecting your plants.  Not so much in actuality. One rose bush was trampled, literally trampled, and the others had broken stems.  My flower garden off the screened porch was trampled to the point the plants died.  When brought to their attention they were sorry. I would have appreciateted some restitution but none was offered.
they were to replace the boot on the porch post, instead replaced the whole post, but did not square it up with the porch. It is off by a 1/4 to 1/2 inch.
Overall the painting looks good, the process was a hassle.  I hope that it lasts, the quality remains to be seen.

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Limewash and whitewash are two techniques used to give brick a light, matte finish, but they differ in composition, application, and permanence. The best choice depends on your aesthetic goals and the specific surface.

Composition

  • Limewash: A natural and environmentally friendly option made from limestone, water, and sometimes pigments. It is breathable and soaks into porous surfaces like brick.

  • Whitewash: Traditionally made from lime, water, chalk, and binders, but a similar look can be achieved with watered-down white paint. It is paint-based and sits on top of the surface.

Appearance and Finish

  • Limewash: Provides a natural, textured appearance that allows the brick's character to show through. It offers a more traditional finish.

  • Whitewash: Creates a softer, more opaque finish, often used for a rustic or shabby-chic style.

Application and Permanence

  • Limewash: Is semi-permanent and can be removed, making it a good choice if you might want to change the look in the future. It requires more skill to apply and cannot be used on previously painted brick.

  • Whitewash: Is a more permanent solution. It is more forgiving to apply and can be used on painted brick. However, because it sits on the surface, it can trap moisture.

Ultimately, if you want a breathable, natural, and reversible finish for unpainted brick, limewash is a great option. If you need a more permanent, opaque coating that can be applied over painted surfaces, whitewash is the better choice. Whitewashing may also be more economical, costing approximately $1.40 to $4.20 per square foot.

You can refresh a painted deck by either giving it a thorough cleaning or refinishing the deck altogether. Chipped or faded paint, as well as extensive damage, often calls for a new finish. To do this, remove the original coat of paint with a sander and add either a new coat of paint or a stain to protect the wood below.

Yes, you can and should paint or stain pressure-treated wood, as this helps prevent the surface from cracking. However, it is crucial to wait for the wood to dry out completely from the chemical treatment process before applying a finish. If the wood is still wet, the paint will not adhere properly. The drying time can range from weeks to six months. To test if the wood is ready, drip some water onto a board. If the water is absorbed, the wood is dry enough for painting or staining. If the water beads up on the surface, it needs more time to dry. You can build with the wood while it's still wet, but you must wait for it to dry before painting.

Yes, they provide design insights that enhance space utility and visual appeal.

Wood stain is not flammable after it dries. The solvent in wood stain is what causes the liquid form to be highly flammable, but the stain drying process involves the solvents dissolving, which leaves behind a non-flammable product on your wood project. Wood stain is, however, flammable before you apply it, so you should always store partially full cans and used wood stain rags away from sources of heat and open flames.
