"I recently hired Semper Fi Tree Service, and I couldn’t be more impressed with their professionalism and expertise. From the moment I reached out, their communication was quick, clear, and consistent. They were incredibly responsive and always took the time to thoroughly explain everything—whether it was why full tree removal was necessary or why trimming certain branches wouldn’t be sufficient. Their knowledge about trees is outstanding, especially when it comes to identifying what can harm them and how to best treat or remove them. I was particularly impressed by their free estimate, which wasn’t just a price quote but a full, detailed explanation of their plan and reasoning. When it came to the job itself, Semper Fi Tree Service completed the work quickly and efficiently, with a focus on both safety and quality. They even went above and beyond by partnering with the electric company to safely remove a tree that had grown around a power line, something I never would have expected from a tree service, but it just shows how dedicated and well-connected they are in their field. If you're looking for a trustworthy, professional tree service that knows their stuff and gets the job done right, I highly recommend Semper Fi Tree Service. They exceeded my expectations in every way!"

"Best possible service. The gentleman that performed the aeration even continued through the rain that came toward the end of his work, until the job was complete. Overall a great experience."

"First off, I had called several other places specific to my area and none would even consider doing the work until Spring. I was referred by a friend of a friend to this company. I called and they could not only do the work but was able to the next day!!!! My home is 125 years old and knew they may have some challenges but I wasnâ t sure. Colin and Joseph arrived bright and early as well as cheerful, friendly and professional. I must say, I am a single female and automatically on guard for feeling like I will be over charged or in general taken advantage of for my lack of knowledge but I immediately sensed this was not going to happen. Nor did it. With my home being old and made of Cinder Block they were limited on where the receptacles could be placed but they offered ideas. They were able to place them in the floor and let me tell you it wasnâ t easy for them!!! The flooring was thick as it had floor after floor on it from over the years. Limited crawl space and I am sure many other challenges I am just not aware of. They remained patient and not once did I feel they were rushing to complete the job. They also took the time to explain everything to me. When the job was completed you wouldnâ t even know they had been here by how clean they left it. The receptacles they placed had to go in the floor and look beautiful (if you can call receptacles beautiful). They are seamless. They even went one step further helping me by cutting out an area in the back of a hutch so it could be butted up to the wall over receptacle area. I would have no way of doing that myself!! I canâ t thank Colin and Joseph enough!!! They truly were fantastic!!!!! They were also great with, George, my 150# Great Dane who insisted on following them and I am sure was in there way numerous times despite me trying to keep him out of their way. They never once showed annoyance with him only petting and talking to him. I appreciate their kindness and patience with him!!! I would recommend this company ANY day!!! I will also use them for any work I may need in the future. The rate I was charged was more than reasonable especially for the challenges they had!!! If you are looking for an outstanding professional company do yourself a favorâ ¦. go here. I can guarantee you will not be disappointed!!!!!! I know I wasnâ t!!!!!!!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

The safest way to cut down a tree is to make sure you’re completely prepared and have done all the necessary safety checks, including double-checking your equipment is in good working order, you have plenty of clearance to fell the tree, you’re wearing all the safety gear, and you have a partner to help you (who should also be wearing safety gear).

A serrated knife will work for cutting off small palm tree fronds, about 1 inch in diameter. For larger fronds, you will need pruning shears. You may also use a pruning saw, and if your palm tree is especially tall, an extended pole saw can help you reach the brown fronds around the trunk.

Unfortunately, most of the time you’re out of luck if a neighbor’s tree blocks your view. You don’t have a right to a view, so if you have a tree that’s near the property line but on your neighbor’s property, you can’t cut it to be able to take in a majestic mountain or a beautiful sunrise. In some communities, however, there are ordinances protecting scenic views. Checking into your local laws can help you determine your rights in this situation.

In most cases, you should not use a pruning seal on trees after trimming. Applying a sealant can interfere with the tree's natural healing process, and it does not guarantee protection from pathogens. Instead of sealing the cut, the best practice is to support the tree's natural recovery by providing it with plenty of water and a dormant-style fertilizer. However, there are exceptions. Pruning seals may be recommended for very vulnerable species, like elm trees, in areas where dangerous diseases such as Dutch elm disease are prevalent. In these specific situations, the protection offered by a sealant can outweigh its downsides. For advice tailored to your situation, especially after cutting large branches, it is best to consult a local tree trimming professional.

The fastest ways to remove a tree stump are by grinding it or burning it.

Stump grinding is often the quickest method, with professionals able to chip away a stump and its roots within a single session. You have the option to hire a professional stump removal service or rent a stump grinder to do it yourself. However, it's important to note that these machines can be large, difficult to transport, and dangerous to operate without prior experience. For safety reasons, hiring a local arborist or landscape specialist is often recommended.

Burning is another fast option. Before you begin, check your local burn laws. The process involves drilling holes into the stump, filling them with vegetable oil, and waiting 24 to 48 hours. Afterward, you can add charcoal bricks to the surface and light the fire, which must be attended at all times.

For a more affordable but much slower alternative, you can use potassium nitrate pellets to accelerate the natural decomposition process. This method typically takes four to six months.
