I grew up on a farm. I went to college. I have been a successful business owner for 6 years. Before starting my Contracting business I was a superintendent for a large glass company. I specialize in door and window installation/ replacement, bathroom remodeling, basement finishing, and demo/abatement work. Certified for Lead Abatement and swinging stage platform work. Have experience in project oversight, consulting, and good old labor. I enjoy design and engineering challenges, custom built and artistic projects but give the same attention to detail on the plain design jobs. I am probably too honest to get rich doing contract work, but i think that is something to be proud of. Im hardworking and resourceful making me a 1st choice for your next project.. I do consultation and oversight of many types of Contracting and construction jobs. My insight and experience across the board make me a valuable asset to customers who want the most for the money.

"Ivan and his team were great. Started from the first visit to quote the work. He was very helpful on choosing tile and fixtures by offering suggestions on current decorating trends. His team removed all the old tub and shower fixtures. They replaced all the tile floor and shower with a contemporary look. Install a dual vanity and a 72" backlit/Frontline mirror. Installed exhaust fan with heater. We also had the V-Team paint our 2nd bathroom and fix some drywall issues in the main living area. I can not recommend this contracting team enough. Very professional and the work is top notch and looks great. Thank you Ivan"

"Marty of Avanced restoration and waterproofing came out to give me a quote For my waterproofing project. I called out around 4 companies to give Me a quote and this company seem to be the most knowledgeable.... I was surprised to learn that some companies don’t do all of the waterproofing They bring in a contractor to do part of it and they do the rest. Or the try and sell u a bunch of stuff u don’t need.....I chose this company Because they got good reviews ......they are knowledgeable about the Process and they are budget friendly.....Also Marty has a good sense Of humor to help ease the tension of choosing... .."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

You should avoid drilling or cutting into load-bearing beams because removing material will weaken it and increase the risk of structural damage or even collapse. If you do need to drill into a load-bearing beam, speak with a structural engineer first to discuss where it’s safest to drill and the width and depth of the bit that’s safe to use.

It’s best to use two screws to secure deck boards into every joist. Securing the boards to every joist makes the deck more structurally sound, while using two screws on the outer sides of the boards can help prevent warping and cupping.

Yes, you can find ceiling joists using simple tools if a stud finder isn't available.

Using a hammer requires patience and a keen ear. Gently tap the ceiling in a grid pattern, listening for sound changes. A hollow sound indicates space between joists, while a solid, dull thud suggests a joist. Mark the location with a pencil and confirm by tapping from different angles.

Alternatively, you can use a nail, but this method will leave small holes. You'll feel increased resistance when the nail hits a joist. Mark the spot and repeat the process every 16 or 24 inches to map the joist locations. This method is considered less reliable than using a stud finder.

You can enclose an open carport, however, there are several things to consider before opting to do so. You'll want to check local building codes and permit requirements before proceeding to make sure it’s legal. While you can sometimes stick-frame a carport enclosure, pre-fab kits are also available. Remember that you'll likely need to meet concrete slab regulations and provide lighting inside the structure. Both of which could substantially drive up costs.

The cost to convert a carport into a garage averages about $22,000, ranging from about $15,000 and $55,000. Additional cost factors to consider include size, time of year, and how much of the carport you can reuse. Other cost factors include the kinds and amounts of materials used, such as:

  • Add insulation: $1 per square foot

  • Add drywall: $1–$3 per square foot

  • Add window: $450–$2,000 per window

  • Add outlets: $75–$500

  • Add garage door: $250–$11,200

  • Enclose framing: $5–$13 per square foot

  • Replace roofing: $1,000–$2,000
