"Paul owner of Get Flooring did a thourough job at my house. He delivered everything he promised to do. He responds to phone calls and does a follow-up when needed. I used his services for flooring, paint, carpet and backsplah. All his staff are knowledgeable and professional as well. They complete their task and do a follow up when needed. "I purchased a big deal from Angie's List and their services turned out fine. They were a little late. I gave the fellow a little bit of a leeway and he took a little bit more leeway than I would have preferred.  In fact, I was getting ready to give him a call and he sent the crew over, and they did the job. I just paid them the flat amount; they did not try to pressure me with any add-ons or anything like that, which was fine. I was actually wondering if they were going to do something like that, but they did not. So that was certainly a nice thing. They did what they said they were going to do. They were acting like they were in a big hurry. They were two guys and they worked as a team, and they were gone in, I think, like about an hour or something like that. It was like at least a week, if not two weeks, before they actually did come back and as I said I had been getting ready to call them in trying to find out what was going on when they finally did show up. I thought they would call in advance which they did not, so I was a little bit disappointed about that. I did not see them doing anything what I would call sloppily; they were kind of in a hurry. I did ask a question and they did do some certain tertiary types of things, like part of a gutter guard had fallen off and they did put it back on, which I had requested so that was fine."

"I hired the company to do a make ready [clean up & prep] on a single apartment in a building which I own in the  town where I live. I needed the property to be cleaned up so I could rent it again.  I have been a landlord for over 20 years & hadn't found a vacated property in such a mess in all my years. They did the complete interior clean-up which took about five hours. And, the complete prep of the property. they took out all the trash & junk, and cleaned up all debris left in the yard. They did such a great job with that I decided to use them for the yard maintenance also. They cleaned all my flowerbeds & got them ready for spring, placed mulch & trimmed the shrubs and flowering trees. On the inside they made everything look brand new! Cleaning the walls, painting, cleaned the carpets & stripped & polished the wood floors...making them look brand new. The appliances that stayed were cleaned inside & out. They even remembered to get all the light fixtures clean for me. Dusted all window seals & doorways. Shine mopped all they tile floors. To top it all off they even gave the bathrooms a fresh clean look by putting a new caulk seal around the tubs, sinks & shower...which gave the bathrooms a fresh face. All in all I found it to be a very stress free pleasant experience. And, I will definitely call on them for the next project because if they could do so well with a nightmare like that I'm sure the less difficult will be equally affordable and easily handled. Everything just looked so nice when they were finished. Thanks, Green Earth

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

Avoid placing carpet in the bathroom or the kitchen. After all, moisture is no friend to carpeting. Beyond that, it’s down to personal preference. Some people dislike when a garage or basement features carpet, but others enjoy it.

Depending on carpet type and labor, costs range from $3 to $12 per square foot.

Carpet glue is very sticky, but it's not permanent. The glue usually lasts as long as a typical carpet installation, which is five to 15 years. For the best results, you should always use the right type of carpet glue for the area you're using it in. There are carpet glues for high-traffic areas, which are more high-quality and durable than others.

A 65-oz. carpet is good, and in many cases, it indicates a premium carpet. Most carpets for homes should fall in the range of 40 to 60 ounces for face weight. If a carpet has a 65-oz. face weight, it is likely more durable and long-lasting than a similar carpet with a lower face weight. Carpet face weight is just one factor in determining a carpet’s quality.

In most cases, carpeting isn’t kind to the wood that it’s attached to. Most carpet installation uses adhesive or nailing strips, both of which will damage wood. Conversely, you can choose to use an adhesive designed to be removed from wood, in which case carpeting can actually protect your hardwood stairs.
