I got vague blurb of the problem and my mom saying he said he broke something on the unit!? Took 3 days and me calling office twice before tech finally called me! And NOWHERE on the paperwork does it state that HE caused more damage to the unit than the original problem!"

It’s not necessary, but you can absolutely use soap or detergent when pressure washing your house. Washing with a mixture of soap and water will ensure your siding is spotless when you’re finished. However, in many cases it is not necessary to use soap and you can still achieve a powerful result without any product. 

It‘s risky to pressure wash indoors, and we wouldn’t recommend it, but following all safety guidelines can prevent the worst outcomes. Always make sure to use an electric-powered machine over one that’s gas-powered, remove obstacles that could cause tripping or falling, and keep appliances like hair dryers and toothbrushes unplugged and out of the way to prevent electrical hazards. 

Cedar shake siding requires regular cleaning, or else it will grow mold and algae. However, a pressure washer can easily damage your cedar shakes if the water pressure is too high. We recommend cleaning with a garden hose instead. Review our guide to cedar siding maintenance if you’ve just finished your installation.

You should wait until your pavers have completely dried and cured before pressure washing them. Wait at least three to five days, though some sealants may need up to an entire week. Rushing that timeline can mess with the finish, weaken the seal, or leave streaks that are tough to fix. Once the sealant has fully set, stick to a gentle approach. Keep the pressure under 1,500 PSI and hold the nozzle at least two feet from the surface. Anything stronger or closer can blast the joint sand loose or wear down the sealant you just applied.

It is possible to pressure wash your deck, but it’s usually best to leave the work to a professional for two main reasons. First, power washers are expensive, and you can avoid high upfront costs by hiring a deck washing pro instead. Second, you must be careful to use the correct setting to avoid damaging your deck material. You can only clean soft woods like pine with a wide spray and a low pressure; otherwise, the water will leave unpleasant marks on your deck. Hard woods, composite material, and metal can stand up to increasingly higher water pressures.
