Raccoons in a chimney sound like thumping, rustling, scratching, or scurrying. Because they can weigh as much as 20 pounds, they make noises that are noticeable and hard to miss. Plus, they have an average litter size of 3 to 7 kits, so you may hear what sounds like multiple animals thumping, rustling, scratching, or scurrying.

Professional wasp removal methods vary depending on the wasp species, nest location, and the severity of the infestation. Professionals use a range of techniques, including high-grade insecticides, pesticides, aerosols, insecticidal dust, liquids, and vacuuming. After exterminating the wasps, the technician will remove the active nest to prevent re-infestation. For a major or pervasive wasp problem, it is recommended to hire a professional to handle the issue safely and avoid painful stings.

Cinnamon's warm scent appeals to many people but not to many bugs. The spice contains eugenol, which also happens to be used in insecticides. While the level of eugenol in cinnamon isn't enough to eliminate bugs on its own, the scent can be strong enough to keep them away.

You can try sprinkling cinnamon around areas where you've seen insects, such as ants and mosquitos. Remember that you'll have to reapply frequently, especially after periods of rain.

While pressure-treated wood offers extra protection against decay and insects, it’s not entirely immune to termites. These pests can still snack on treated wood, so if you spot them, be ready for termite treatment costs that range anywhere from $73 to $1,730. However, your final price ultimately depends on how bad the infestation is and the treatment method. To keep your deck and home safe, regular inspections and preventative measures — like sealing gaps around the home and installing screens on doors and windows — are essential to protect your home, saving you from costly repairs in the future.
