Foley Tree Care was founded in 1998 by Carl Foley who now runs it with his wife Sarah Foley. We perform all sorts of tree work including land & view clearings, removals (we do not do stumps but have a sister company who we recommend), pruning, trims, and tree injections for various health problems with trees.

If iTrees plants for you, the trees receive a 1 year guarantee. I opted for a 2 year replacement warranty on the Redbud because they can be "fussy." 6ft Redbud: $450.00 Planting/warranty $275.00 5-6ft Nigra Arborvitae $450.00 Planting/warranty $225.00 Green Backs Program Discount -$50.00 ___________________________________ Total Payment $1,350.00 Note: I had never used this company. I typically purchase trees from an online company, but with Covid, wanted to support local business. We were doing a tremendous amount of landscaping ourselves and wanted to treat our old bones to have a professional come in and plant our investment for us. The crew was extremely polite and answered all questions. We were amazed and how fast they were! They were very careful not to upset any electric/gas lines. We had called the utility company prior to their visit. What I really like: this company only sells LOCALLY grown trees that grow in the area. Online companies have great products and will have the buyer choose products within their growing zone but they also sell invasive species."

Usually, trees cannot grow back after their stump has been ground, but some very hearty types of trees can. For example, if you have a black locust or Redford pear, the grinding will need to go deep to prevent them from growing back. If you aren’t sure what you’re doing, be very careful when cutting mature tree roots (roots larger than 2 inches). Root cutting and pruning can affect both a tree’s stability and its ability to nourish itself. Issues during root cutting can result in damage or injury. 

It’s recommended you call in a pro to help, unless it’s a very small tree and you aren’t worried about the prospect of losing the tree.

Some fast-acting products can rot a tree stump in four to six weeks. Keep in mind, these products contain harsh chemicals that may prevent regrowth in the area. Other products, like fertilizer that contains lots of nitrogen, can enhance the process and rot a stump in about a year. (This is compared to the ten years it can take naturally for a stump to rot.)

Regular pruning, monitoring for disease, and fertilization promote healthy growth.

If the roots are still alive, the dead tree will usually try to put out new shoots. That doesn’t mean the tree will survive or that the dead parts of a tree will come back to life. If parts of the tree have died and turned gray or rotten, nothing will bring them back to life and they need to be safely removed.
