"Sentri Homes provided the most professional flooring service I’ve ever had. The LVP installation turned out absolutely beautiful, and I was amazed at how quickly everything was completed without sacrificing quality. The crew was fast, accurate, and extremely detail-oriented from start to finish. Everything was installed cleanly, precisely, and with real craftsmanship. The entire process was smooth, efficient, and far beyond what I expected. I would absolutely recommend Sentri Homes to anyone needing flooring installed."

"The timeline was the biggest problem.  The time it took contractor to finish the project was nearly 2.5 months from start to (almost) finish, with a single bathroom in the house. During this time, there were 2 holidays (Christmas and New Year's) and some days of inclement weather which would have prevented anyone from traveling (~3 in all). However, there was one entire week that I was on travel and returned to find zero progress had been made in that amount of time.
The original estimate was $2,500 for labor only for the bathroom. There were additional items that surfaced throughout the renovation which added scope to the project that increased the labor to nearly $3,700. I provided all material for the project.
Contractor requested milestone payments in advance of work being completed, to include final payment, which was made with promise from Contractor that he would return to fix minor "nit-pick" items, which never did take place. I have had to perform those items myself.
Contractor would set tools in bathtub and on top of porcelain toilet, which resulted in scratches in both. In retrospect I would have requested him to place pads down.
Contractor also did not lay down anything to protect the floors in the house from outside elements that were brought in on his boots (snow/rain), and that was then mixed with debris and dust from  the construction. This made it extremely difficult to clean the floors.
Overall, the bathroom looks nice. When looking in detail, however, once can see where craftsmanship/attention to detail is lacking due to a rush to complete the project.

"Loay Jabbar provided the information I needed quickly and clearly. I immediately signed up for full coverages for our two homes because of the discounts offered and because of the quality of service that Loay is saying and promising Choice Home Warranty provides to its customers. I have bad experiences with other home warranty companies so I am hoping I found the best company that would deliver the best service."

"Fantastic ! Dan and his crew did an absolute professional job on my home. Work was excellent and completed ahead of schedule. His price was very competitive. They used the highest quality materials to ensure it lasted. I've used Miller Home Improvement on many jobs and recommended him many times. Feedback from the people I have referred him to has always been excellent. I will continue to work with them for all of my future home improvements."

"My home is currently under construction and has been going on a whole lot longer than it should have because of the contractor hired to do the job. Chris with Modern Marvels was recommended to me by a friend so i gave him a call to paint the exterior of my home. Him and his guys showed up quickly, were very clean and his pricing was definitely more affordable than i expected. i asked him to then drywall my home and paint it as well, it took him 2 weeks to get done more than the current contractor has in 6 months. im actually going to continue using Chris and his guys for most all other jobs i have left."

Custom Home Builders questions, answered by experts

Completing home building improvements absolutely increases your property value, especially when adding square footage for growing families. Finished basements, expanded garages, and outdoor living spaces carry strong appeal in the Waterloo market. Energy efficiency upgrades also attract buyers facing high IL utility demands. Always secure proper permits for every phase of construction, as unpermitted work becomes a major liability during appraisals and real estate transactions.

Helpful?

A major mistake during home building is skipping required permits or failing to pull separate permits for individual trades. Many homeowners ignore the heavy clay soils and karst topography in Waterloo, leading to poor drainage and foundation issues. Starting excavation during the wet spring months causes severe site damage. Always verify setback requirements, check neighborhood restrictions, and hire licensed professionals familiar with IL building codes.

Helpful?

Assess your existing systems before starting any home building by scheduling professional load calculations for your HVAC and electrical panels. Older homes in Waterloo require service upgrades to handle new additions. Inspect your plumbing drain capacity, especially if your property relies on older clay pipes. A licensed contractor will evaluate how foundation changes impact the surrounding clay soil and subsurface drainage across your IL property.

Helpful?

Select foundation materials designed for clay-heavy soils and karst topography common in Waterloo. Choose exterior finishes rated for high humidity and intense summer heat. For roofing, install impact-resistant products that withstand hail, high winds, and winter ice damming. Add robust insulation to handle the IL climate extremes. Specify freeze-thaw resistant concrete and masonry for all outdoor flatwork to prevent seasonal cracking.

Helpful?

Start your home building preparations by verifying your local zoning rules and securing all required municipal permits. Schedule a geotechnical assessment to evaluate the local limestone karst and clay soils. Check your property line for flood zones and contact the state utility locator before any excavation. Plan your schedule around Waterloo weather, aiming for late summer or fall to avoid wet spring conditions and freezing winter temperatures.
