Foundation Recovery Systems, founded in 1992, is a subsidiary of Groundworks, a family of companies that offers superior, proven solutions for your foundation repair, structural repair, crawl space encapsulation, dehumidification, and concrete leveling needs. They currently maintain offices in Kansas City, Moberly, Springfield, and St Louis. Foundation Recovery Systems is a recognized accredited member of the Better Business Bureau and devotes its years of experience, industry knowledge and specialized training to help customers protect their homes or commercial buildings from water damage, concrete sinking, and foundation failure.

"As far as we can tell, the work was effective at stabilizing our foundation, and the on-site crew led by Luke was great, informing us of their progress along the way. However, we expressed in advance our concern about protecting some of our landscaping. We were assured the crew would have boards to cover landscaping on which removed dirt would be piled. This turned out not to be the case. I’ve had quite a bit of expense and labor to restore landscaping that was damaged during the work. This damage could have been avoided. Foundation Recovery sends out $500 coupons to advertise for their work. My attempts to contact Joe and FRS to honor even a part of the $500 coupon to help defray my landscaping costs have gone unanswered. Our salesperson, Joe, was not present during the work and has not been responsive to our followup inquiries. We are very disappointed in the poor customer service from Foundation and its representatives. I cannot recommend this company based on their failure to address our up-front concerns, lack of response to our followup requests, and the false advertising that is associated with the coupons."

"Joe Lane, alias Joe James did landscaping last year. All initially went well. He and his crew removed bushes, installed rock and milch, power washed the driveway and removed junk from my garage. He gained my confidence in his honesty and swore that he had never cheated a customer. I advanced a $1,000 payment for topsoil and grass seed and he has never returned. Since July of last year all I have received from him are excuses and promises. Hr also promised to replace the bushes , most of which died. I requested he refund my money and he has not responded. BEWARE!! Don’t trust him."

"DONT TRUST LEVEL ALL! We entered into an agreement to have our patio leveled. The work of leveling the patio was not completed before Level ALL began demanding payment. Their demands for payment can easily be characterized as harassment and intimidation. We met with Level All with the result of the meeting being that their representative informed us that their sales person had sold us a service that they could not complete within the scope of their original bid. The representative was clear about his disdain and disagreements with how the sales force bids on work like ours and he lamented that this was the issue. According to a Level All representative, our project was not completed because the sales person underbid the work and Level ALL was unwilling to honor their invoice and correct their mistake. The workers did not clean up after themselves and they left more chips and damage to our patio than was originally present. They failed to caulk the concrete seams, which will lead to further damage to our patio. We contacted their office twice to speak with someone in charge and have gotten no response."

Concrete Leveling questions, answered by experts

Yes, you should seal your exposed aggregate concrete to keep it protected from the elements and reduce the risk of cracking and concrete spalling. You’ll need to invest in the cost of resealing your concrete about every three years to keep it in good condition. Unsealed exposed aggregate concrete is susceptible to water damage, stains, chips, cracks, and abrasion. Sealers are available in various finishes and levels of gloss. Outdoor exposed aggregate concrete should be sealed with a non-yellowing, UV-resistant sealer to preserve the look of the finish.

You should have at least 4 to 6 inches of compactable base under your concrete slab. Your contractor may recommend more depending on the structure.

As a general rule of thumb, allow 24 hours for penetrating sealers to cure and at least 48 hours of drying time for most topical sealers. Always check the instructions for the sealing product you’re using to determine the drying time.

Concrete should be at least 4 inches thick for steps. This thickness boosts stability and prevents cracking and deterioration. After you’ve built your forms out of wood, fill the void with a sand or gravel base for concrete. Use an all-purpose concrete mix to form your steps. After pouring your concrete steps, be sure to screed and float the concrete.

Costs depend on the extent, the material choice, labor, and any decorative finishes requested.
