Small jobs welcome

"H&T Tree Service gave me the first and lowest bid. They were experienced, timely, well equipped and safe in the removal of a 100 foot plus oak tree. All limbs were cut, lowered to the ground by rope, shredded and disposed of in large truck beds. They maintained personal and property safety measures. All members of the work party were nicely spoken and comfortable to deal with. Cleanup was fast and thorough. I have only praise and no complaints for their work. H&S Tree Service will be my go-to company for any future work of this kind."

"Tate Tree Service is an excellent value for anyone looking for quality, efficent work done at an unbeatable price. I had a huge Elm branch that was hanging over my house removed, a large Callery Pear tree topped (20+') and a not easily accessible line of trees trimmed back at the edge of my property behind a guest house. Scott, Jason and Josh all did a great job and I would highly recommend them for any tree service you might need. Everything was done in only 3.5 hours AND Jason even cleaned my gutters out for me. You won't find a better value for less. Highly recommended, 5 stars. Thanks Tate Tree Service!"

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

It is possible to cut down a tree on your property yourself, but it is generally not recommended unless specific conditions are met. You should only consider this project if the tree is small (e.g., under 4-5 inches in diameter and short enough that you don't need a ladder to reach the branches), and you are experienced in handling a chainsaw. The tree must also be located far from any power lines, fences, homes, or other structures. Even for small trees, the work can be dangerous, and it's always advisable to have a spotter to ensure the tree falls correctly and no branches fall on you.

For any tree that is large, requires a ladder to access, or is near electrical lines or structures, you should always hire a professional. Attempting to remove a large tree yourself is extremely dangerous, poses a risk of serious injury, and could result in significant damage to your property.

Before any tree removal, it's also important to check your local and state regulations to ensure the tree is not historic or otherwise protected by your city.

It may be possible, but transplanting a large, mature tree can be a tricky project, and some trees handle it better than others. If you have a tree you need to save and are considering transplanting it elsewhere, we highly suggest calling a tree removal service and arranging a consultation to see what they say (and how much a full transplant would cost).

It may not be worth it to rake every leaf in your yard, but it’s necessary to remove the majority of leaves to prevent them from smothering grass growth on your lawn. However, raking leaves isn’t your only option for leaf removal. You can remove leaves easily with a leaf blower or compost or mulch them with your lawn mower to repurpose them to help grow your garden or yard.

The ideal time to prune a tree depends on the type of tree. Typically, late winter or early spring is a good time to prune but isn't always the case for "towering trees." It's best to trim when trees are dormant and before blooms appear but can vary depending on the tree type. It's always best to research the type of tree or ask a professional tree trimmer to determine when is the perfect time to prune your tree.
