"

They have been working with us for the last three years and they are still doing more work. They put the bay window in last fall. They are not cheap. Their quality is very good. They are here earlier than I anticipate. The job they did on the storm doors was really good, but they are starting to rust a little bit and it is only a year. He looked at them and he is going to see what he can do with them.

"Kevin was pretty quick to get back to me when I first asked him to give me a quote.  He showed up soon after our first phone conversation and gave me a quote instantly on what it would cost for the project.  His quote was very reasonable, compared to two others I had received.  I awarded Kevin the job and he thought he could get to the job w/in 6 weeks, due to other jobs ahead of us.  We agreed to wait, as we weren't in a huge hurry.  6 weeks later, Kevin came out to start the job as promised.

Unfortunately the weather was brutally hot, so the job he figured would take him one day, took him two, due to the intense heat.  Very understandable and in the end, the new concrete stairs were poured correctly.  The only problem I had was that in our small parking lot, they had mixed concrete and spilled quite a bit on the blacktop.  To our surprise, they left the mess and never               cleaned it up. Plus they gave one of my neighbors, who I left the Condo Association's check with, a hard time concerning how much we were giving him.  On Angie's List, Kevin had a coupon that was good for 5% off, for work done by 10/15/2012.  We took the 5% off of the quote and gave him a check for the balance.  He was upset, as he claimed that the quote factored in the 5% discount already.

No where on the quote did it say anything about a discount in the quote, so we feel that we gave him all that was due to him.  Although he argued with one of our unit owners about this, he ultimately took the check, despite still being upset.  I would recommend to Kevin that next time he does a quote, where he awards an Angie's List discount, I would make sure that the discounted portion of the bill is clearly identified, to eliminate any possible confusion.

Overall, we were happy w/ the job Kevin and his helper did.  Just not pleased with his poor clean-up and argument over the check we gave him. I would still use him again, considering the great job he did, for a reasonable price."

Welding questions, answered by experts

Sawing your hot tub into more manageable chunks so it can be lifted easily into a truck takes several hours. Generally, 2.5 hours for smaller hot tubs and around 4 hours for larger ones with the help of one to two people. If money isn't a concern and you want to skip the physical labor, you can hire a pro to get the job done.

Welders use a variety of methods in their trade. Different types of welding are better suited for different purposes and contexts. For example, stick welding is a versatile form suitable for most metals and alloys. The most common types of welding include:

  • Stick welding: $100–$1,000

  • Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding: $250 and up

  • Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding: $250 and up

  • Gas welding: $150 and up

  • Forge welding: $15–$25 per hour

You should not do your own welding unless you have the proper training and experience. Most home electrical systems can only handle MIG welding, which creates weaker bonds than TIG welding and won’t work on certain metals or metal thicknesses. Both welding forms usually require the use of shielding gas, which can be dangerous to store at home. Additionally, welding machines create temperatures of over 3,000 degrees, and the sparks can blind you if you don’t have the proper equipment. As such, it’s usually better to hire a professional welder for your welding projects.

To maintain custom or fabricated metal structures and extend their lifespan and appearance, perform regular cleaning, apply rust prevention treatments, and use protective coatings.

Yes, you can cut up a box spring., but you’ll need to do so in layers. You can clear the fabric and fluff away to reveal the springs before removing them as well.
