"Tim thought he had the problem fixed, but after a hard rain, the water from the roof was still leaking in. He came back and torn the soffit apart until he found the leak. Took a picture so I saw the problem, then poceeded to fix it. Would highly recommend American Home Improvements & Gutters for any of your roofing needs. Very honest company. "I started by reaching out to a number of local roofing companies. In particular to a prior company I had used before Because of good experiences. Ultimately, I found out that the sales team at H&M was absolutely phenomenal. The communication was great. They worked with me to help me understand exactly what was going to happen. They helped me with my particular budget for the customizations that my roof needed (Including new flashing, and a new vent or two, and installing a solar roof vent). That being said, Jill did an absolutely phenomenal job. She was responsive, took her time and listened to my concerns and feedback. Ultimately, my roof looks great, the leak I was having from the flashing is gone, I now have solar power For my attic vent. Iâ m very happy with the way this turned out. Probably the biggest issue that I experienced was that I found that there was a language barrier between the labor force, and the sales side/operational side. My wife and I were under the impression that our carport roof would match the main roof In terms of color (black). Ultimately, A white roof was placed on the carport. Additionally, We had some wood rot that we wanted to have repaired, and we communicated that initially. Unfortunately, when the job was complete the areas in which there was wood rot had not been replaced, and the labor team had to come back out to fix much of it. When the project was done, we had a ton of leftover wood that I had painted to be hung up, but it ultimately was not part of the labor quote, and therefore they didnâ t touch it. (I made a cornhole set). In summary, The sales team was absolutely phenomenal and I loved working with Jill. But I do think that operation there could be some improvements. The roof looks great and the gutters are now seamless with gutter guard (no more gumballs)."

"Excellent job. The entire job took only 1/2 day. Price in my opinion was very reasonable. Overall a superb experience. I could add only one minor critique item. The after job cleanup could have been a bit more thorough. I've found more loose nails, screws and gutter straps than I would have expected. Overall, I'm very happy with this job. I have nice new gutters and the price was good. Great job guys."

"The provider was very responsive and completed the job in a timely manner.  After changing insurance companies, our new provider gave us a very short time to make repairs that we were not even aware of.  The repairs were made within 2 business days and we were not required to be home avoiding the need to miss work. I would definitely use the provider again.

Gutter Repair and Replacement questions, answered by experts

If your gutters get overwhelmed every time it rains, adding an extra downspout is a solution. First, you'll need to decide where to add the downspout. If your current setup only has a single downspout, one option is to place a new one at the opposite end of the gutter. If you already have a downspout at each end, adding a third one in the middle can help to lighten the load.

You can hire a professional to add a downspout yourself by cutting into the existing gutter and attaching the necessary parts, such as an outlet and brackets.

Poor gutter drainage can cause sagging gutters, roof damage, mold, mildew, rot, basement flooding, and foundation cracks. With gutter replacement costs possible for just $500, getting the right system can save you thousands in repairs down the road.

Frequently, when water flows over gutters, it indicates a potential clog, necessitating cleaning. For instance, if a twig becomes lodged in the downspout, it can lead to a traffic jam, causing more leaves and sticks to accumulate. Another potential issue is an incorrect pitch, as gutters should channel water toward the downspout. If you observe water overflowing the end cap or leaking through it, it suggests that your gutters are improperly tilted.

The most common problem with gutters is clogging from debris like leaves, blossoms, and seeds from surrounding trees. This debris can block downspouts, leading to improper drainage and water overflow.

Other common issues include:

  • Leaks and holes, which can often be repaired with gutter sealant or caulk.

  • Rust, sagging, or detachment from the roofline.

  • Damage from strong storms.

  • Improperly pitched gutters that don't drain correctly.

Regular cleaning in the spring and fall is the best way to prevent most of these problems. You may need to clean them more often during periods of heavy leaf fall.

The average cost to install or replace gutters is around $2,000, with typical project costs ranging from $900 to $7,000. Most companies charge between $4 and $30 per linear foot. The total price depends on several factors, including the size of your home, the complexity of its footprint, the gutter material (e.g., vinyl, metal), and the gutter style (e.g., half-round, custom-built). Additional elements like downspouts, corners, and optional add-ons like gutter guards can also increase the price. The condition of your roof is another consideration, as new gutters cannot be installed on a rotting or sloping roof. While it can be an expensive upfront cost, new gutters are a worthwhile, long-lasting investment for protecting your home's exterior. You can save up to half on labor costs by installing them yourself.
