"AJC Home Services was here this morning about 8:30 to cut down 12 very tall Evergreen trees. I watched them do this and it was very interesting to see the whole process. The 2 gentlemen were professional, hard working and thorough. They had them all cut down along with the clean-up in under 90 minutes. The stump grinding crew are on their way, as I write this to complete the job."

I recently became a new father to a baby boy and decided it would be best for my wife to be a stay at home mom and focus on her small business. I work 50+ hours a week at my full time job and just want some side jobs to do to make some extra cash and hope fully this turns into having regular customers and the start of a business for myself. We don’t really have much extra spending money to do fun things that a family should so I’m trying to fix that a little bit. I’m not the best at everything but I will try my best to learn and do the best that I can at anything I do. If you decide to hire me to do some work I will put all my effort into what I do. Thank you!

I have been involved in trades since the early 1990's. I returned to college, at the age of 32, to earn a degree in trade sciences and received a B.S. in 2005. I am a Jack of all trades so to speak. if I look at a project and don't feel comfortable that I can do a professional job, I will gladly recommend someone that is qualified for free.

Lawns questions, answered by experts

Almost all lawns can benefit from aeration, but not all lawns need aeration services. If your lawn has puddles of standing water, uneven grass growth, thinning grass, dries out quickly, or has a good amount of thatch, aeration is worthwhile. On the other hand, if your lawn is healthy and your soil isn’t too compact, you may be able to skip a year of aeration.

To prepare your lawn for core aeration, water it the day before you aerate. (Alternatively, you can wait until it rains and aerate the following day.) Aerating after watering or a rainy day will make the process easier since you can penetrate moist soil better than dry soil. You should also flag your sprinklers so that you don’t accidentally hit them while aerating. If you have a lot of thatch buildup in your yard, you might need to dethatch your lawn before aerating as well.

If you accidentally watered your grass too much during the winter months, try aerating your lawn to encourage absorption of the water into the soil and improve drainage. Dethatching your lawn can also help the solid recover from overwatering and encourage healthy root and stalk health in your grass.

Bahia grass is not difficult to grow, but you might need patience for this slow-growing grass. Whereas some grass species, like Bermuda grass, can take 1 to 2 weeks to germinate, Bahia grass can take two or three times as long, making it seem like it won’t grow. But again, once your Bahia grass is established, it requires little maintenance. Its deep root system makes it a very durable grass that can bounce back after freezes and droughts.

Make your ryegrass thicker by boosting soil health. Add organic matter, aerate the lawn if the soil is compacted, fertilize appropriately, and see if your lawn needs dethatching. Your local lawn care service can come and look at your lawn and provide specific advice and remedies for your lawn issues.
