His cost estimate was fair and accurate to the final price billed. Nate and Donovan arrived the next day and worked steadily power washing the house, deck, patio, front porch, sidewalks and driveway. There was a lot of green algae and mold on the house. Everything looked great when they were done working. I would hire them again."

If you're concerned about the size of the underground roots or are unable to remove them manually, you can also treat the root ball with an herbicide. Speak with a local landscaper about whether the remaining roots will interfere with your garden plans or threaten to bring the plant back to life.

While there is a lot of debate about whether boiling water is strong enough to kill tree roots, it is not best to remove the roots from large, old trees. You may be able to weaken young roots enough to remove them manually, but boiling water will likely not do the trick for large root systems.
