I have been in the plastering for 33 years. Due to the number of inappropriate leads as of 10/8/23 there is a nominal 10 dollar consulting fee. We can handle everything from new homes to complete room guts/renovations as well as small patches. We do it all when it comes to your walls and ceiling utilizing Kal-kote / two coat plaster or one coat plaster systems. We also repair /install plaster moldings. DRYWALL is general term and includes sheet rock, blue board, green board and more. WE DO NOT DO SMOOTH JOINT COMPOUND ON SHEETROCK HOWEVER, WE CAN BOND AND PLASTER SHEETROCK. We will do joint compound knock down textures. If you request us specifically BE DETAILED in describing the repairs needed or I will not respond. REPAIR DRYWALL is not an adequate description. To learn more about the difference between the various plaster systems and joint compound finish please visit us at our main web site henselplastering.com.

"very, very well. Joe did a great job. Kitchen was taped off with drop cloth (plastic), floor was protected. Did a great job matching to the existing drywall with popcorn finish."

Plaster Repair questions, answered by experts

While it’s most common to sand plaster dry, it is possible to wet-sand plaster, too. Doing so can reduce the amount of plaster dust released into the air and make it easier to work in smaller, more delicate areas (such as around wall trim). However, some people find that wet sanding leads to more imperfections, which is why larger walls are more often dry sanded to ensure an even finish.

Regular inspections and cleaning to prevent moisture or pest issues.

Installing or repairing plaster on ceilings differs slightly from performing the same motions on a wall. You’ll apply slightly less plaster to lower the overall weight of the ceiling. Wall texturing is common, whereas most ceilings are smooth plaster. Tough coat plaster is strong, meaning you can use less while retaining a solid surface.

You can put certain types of plaster over other types, but doing so isn't always the best idea. For example, putting a coat of gypsum over lime plaster is possible, but doing so will limit the lime plaster's breathability and potentially affect its performance.

Since cement plaster tends to leave a textured surface, no matter how much you smooth it, some people prefer to use gypsum plaster as a topcoat over cement plaster, creating a smoother surface.

Damp plaster does dry out, although the drying time depends on several factors, including the type of plaster, the surrounding temperature, moisture content, and the extent of the dampness. Sometimes, it can take weeks or months for wall plaster to dry naturally.
