"They work really hard with your insurance company to get as much co ered even if it means going back to your insurance company several times. I would recommend this company highly. I have used him for all my claims. Just had damage to our pole barn from the tornado I called him and he was there the same day. I cannot say enough about this company. They are terrific!!!"

"Tyler and his entire team worked quickly and effectively to get our old, improperly installed metal roof removed and cleaned up and installed an entirely new shingle roof as well as all new sheeting to insure my roof was installed correctly and would last for numerous years to come. He and his team cared through the whole process and insured my husband and I that things were being done correctly. 10/10 recommend Tyler and Redemption Contractors for any of their roofing needs!"

Roofing questions, answered by experts

You can negotiate roofing payment terms with a contractor, but if you’re working with a reliable, trustworthy roofing contractor, the quote they gave you is probably fair. It’s often not worth haggling over the cost of the job unless you feel it is particularly unfair. If you do, get quotes from other roofing companies to compare prices.

While the terms are often used interchangeably, wood shakes and wood shingles have notable differences, primarily in their manufacturing and appearance. Wood shingles are machine-cut on both sides, resulting in a smooth, thin, and uniform product. In contrast, wood shakes are typically hand-split or sawed on only one side, giving them a more textured, natural, and rustic appearance. Due to these manufacturing differences, shakes are generally thicker, heavier, and less uniform than shingles. They are also more expensive. Homeowners seeking a more rustic aesthetic often choose shakes, while those preferring a more uniform look may opt for shingles. Both are installed in an overlapping pattern to create a durable, weather-resistant roof.

If your home doesn't have gutters, you can still hang Christmas lights on the roof using specialized clips. Use roof clips designed to attach to shingles or fascia. For tile roofs or the edges of the rooftop, consider using parrot clips. Adhesive light-hanging clips are also a great option. It's important to avoid using nails or staples, as they can damage your roofing material. For unique or complex installations, it's best to consult a professional Christmas light installer to find the safest and most effective solution for your home.

To cap off a chimney flue, start by measuring its width, length, and diameter, if it’s circular. Purchase a cap that fits the flue, and decide whether you want a temporary or permanent model. Then, slide or insert the cap onto the flue and secure it with a screwdriver. Be sure to avoid over-tightening the screws to prevent chimney damage.

A chimney cap costs about $300 on average to install, with prices ranging from $75 to $1,000. The final cost depends on several factors, including the professional you hire, the accessibility of your chimney, the cap's material and size, whether any repairs are needed, and if it requires custom fabrication. Chimney caps are usually made from galvanized steel, stainless steel, or copper. Copper caps are the most expensive, followed by stainless steel and then galvanized steel. Excluding labor, average material costs are around $100 for galvanized steel, $250 for stainless steel, and $600 for copper. You may also face additional costs, such as hiring a chimney sweep to clean the chimney before the cap is installed.
