"Had my spring maintenance done and couldn’t be happier with the service. The technician was on time, professional, and took the time to explain everything clearly they also swapped out my nest thermostat for an ecobee and got it set up. Everything is running great and I highly recommend Pass One Hour."

"B and D is very professional in all aspects of the work. Always on time, precise in his work, treats the job like he was working on his own home, has a great play list on his radio, and ALWAYS leaves the work site clean and neat. He even used a blower to clean off the front porch every night whether he worked on it or not. I have no reservations in recommending B and D for all aspects of your job. High quality!"

"We had worked with another HVAC contractor for several years. While there service was good, their prices continued to climb and their responsivness declines. I was referred Clay by a friend of mine, whom had used him previously. Not only was he incredibly responsive, he gave me several options, told us his opinion on each and then let us decide what we wanted to do. There was zero pressure. We hired Clay and he and his crew not only did a great job, they cleaned up after themselves each and everyday, which my wife really appreciated!"

"Rardins has merged with Mattex Plumbing, but Oscar Rardin is still with them. Very professional, both over the phone and kept me updated through texts on the phone. Showed up as promised and was done within 3 hours. Only real difference was in how prices have inflated since 2014 (last time pump was replaced) $1400 vs $500 The pump accounted for over $1200 of that total. Oscar did a excellent job!"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

When first installed, flex ducts shouldn’t cause airflow problems in your home. However, because flex ducts aren’t the sturdiest and require extra support, they lose their durability over time and begin to sag, which can inhibit airflow down the road. Also, if your flex ducts aren’t tight enough, your HVAC could work twice as hard for the same air pressure. If you’re worried about the airflow in your home, a rigid duct may be your best bet.

Yes. It's normal for the AC compressor to cycle on and off intermittently in dry mode as it maintains the desired humidity level. The compressor cycles to prevent over-dehumidification and to maintain a comfortable indoor environment. This cycling behavior ensures efficient operation and optimal humidity control, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the dry mode function in your AC system.

Yes, it’s best to turn off an AC unit that’s blowing hot air to prevent system damage and avoid expensive energy bills. If you let the AC continue running, it will put more strain on the condenser coil and compressor. Plus, if the AC is blowing hot air because of a refrigerant leak, it can also lead to a frozen evaporator coil.

Evaporator coils in an HVAC system typically last between 10 and 15 years, which is roughly the same lifespan as the entire AC unit. The longevity of the coils can be affected by usage frequency, environmental conditions, and how well they are maintained. Regular maintenance, such as cleaning and inspections, can extend their durability. If the evaporator coil fails in an older air conditioner, it may be more cost-effective to replace the whole unit rather than just the coil.

Yes. Return air vents are responsible for gathering and pulling in the warmer air. Once they draw it in, your system conditions the air by removing the warmer molecules from it, allowing your air conditioner to dispense the cooler air back into your home. Not only does this create a more comfortable environment for you, but it also keeps your air conditioner from overworking, resulting in lower energy bills.
