"Great! They were unable to get all the way to the street from the catch basin. It was suggested I add a sewer clean out assure all the roots were gone and make it easier for future cleaning. This was suggested in the past, by another company , but the cost was out of sight. This company was very fair in price for both the cleaning (which included the inspection with the camera) and for the clean out installation."

"It was a great deal and I'm glad we had it done. The crew did the assigned work quickly and efficiently, reporting the results to me and answering my questions about other work. They offered me an alternative for rodding the waste stacks and we are considering it. There was no heavy pressure, just good information and description. It's more expensive than what we are doing now but the technique looked interesting so I will pursue and get back to them. Even if we don't do the hydroblasting we may still use this company for the rest of our work."

"Vince's foreman walked through the job's scope and his crew quickly and efficiently trenched the basement floor on the first day.  There was a miscommunication about the drain tile being a continuous circuit and the crew readily fixed the problem.  Day two was laying drain tile, weeping the cinder block and covering tile with concrete.  Initially the cinder block was not drilled twice- once through each core for weeping water- but after speaking with the foreman, he readily drilled each core.
The crew outside paid attention to my concern that the discharge was in an aesthetically pleasing location and did a good job at preserving the lawn.  They were also kind to my garden.  With the plants they had to dig up, they did leave a nice root ball, but they did not replant the plants.  I did not realize this and one did die.
Per Vince's suggestion, our front gutter which handles the watershed for half of our house was tied into the drain tile discharge pipe.  This corrected an erosion problem plus removed more water from near our foundation. The gutter did end up at a slightly stressed angle but Vince said he would send someone by when they are next in the area and that it would be easy to correct.
Vince did recommend a basic pump back up and a more expensive NexPump back up.  We went with the more expensive Nexxt and love it.  Also the sump itself is wonderfully quiet.
After the job was completed, we did notice damp spots on the cinder block.  Vince and his warranty guy did come out and evaluate the problem.  His warranty guy reopened some weep holes which seemed blocked with silt plus caulked the plastic cove molding.  I appreciate Vince being willing to personally come back and check out his crew's work.
Reliable Basement's price was $2,000 lower than my second choice for a water proofing company.  The value for the dollar was excellent, but I did have to watch that the job was done the way we wanted.  Communication was somewhat hard since the foreman was not completely fluent in English.  However, the crew was polite, and more that willing to do what we asked.

"The coupon deal was exactly what we needed to discover the origin of a leak identified by our newly installed water meter system.  Matt and Mike were both courteous, personable and professional.  They quickly completed the inspections, determined the leak and estimated repairs.  The plus was we took them around and discussed additional plumbing projects/problems and Matt wrote up a detailed estimate for each on the spot!  Estimates are so important in planning and budgeting for all our projects.  In addition, we appreciate they are a family owned, local business.  Thank you J.Blanton Plumbing's Mike and Matt for a great experience!

"Everything went great. Having repeated back-ups in the basement I decided it was time to do something. Black Diamond came out and put a snake camera down the access pipe while I watched. I was able to see the several places where roots had become an issue in the outside pipe. After explaining my options clearly I decided to have them install an outside access pipe to get to the "root" of the problems more easily. The pricing was fair and they came out exactly when they said they would - even though the temps were around zero outside! Despite the cold the work was done pretty quickly. The only drawback is a minor one. A mound was left behind at the dig site which I was told would settle after the ground thawed and perhaps some rains. It did settle a little bit, but there is still a good sized mound of dirt in my front yard. No big deal. I have had no plumbing issues since they installed the pipe and did a proper routing of the pipes. Overall great job.

"During the major rainstorms we?ve been having, the drains in the basement (both in the laundry room and the shower) backed up. We mopped up the water and cleaned. After that, though, there was frequently a rotten egg/sewer smell coming from the drain. I did some research on Angie?s List and called DinoSewer. When I set the appointment on the phone, Gary asked me when the last time was that the lines had been rodded. The house was built in 1948. I bought it in December 2009. My guess was that the last clean-out was closer to 1948 than 2009. He told me he would rod and run tv camera through the line so we could see what was going on. They were unable to rod all the way to the street due to misaligned/damaged pipes. Gary proposed that they excavate down to the sewer line in the front yard and put in a local access. Then have the inspector come out to approve the work and be on hand to run the tv camera to the street. That way, if there was damage on the street side, the inspector would see it first hand and city would be responsible for those repairs. The contract was drawn up to ?install proper cleanout access in front yard. Dig down to main line, remove misaligned/damaged sections of pipe. Install sanitary tee, pipe and riser, bed all pipework in stone after making proper connections?.once complete, rod and camera remaining line for further problems or defects.? He was clear that they wouldn?t do landscaping at the end and that we would have to keep saturating the resulting dirt pile until it settled. He put in writing a 10 year warranty on the pipework and a 2 year warranty on the rodding. Done. He also replaced a leaky faucet in the basement bathroom (took out the old, went out and bought and installed a new one). The total price (above) included $235.00 for the new faucet. Everything done according to agreement. The entire project took about three days (from the initial attempt at rodding). Haven?t had any back up since even though we?ve had several more rainstorms. There was a rotten egg smell after one of the storms and I called. Gary came right out. We had already plugged the drain (rubber drain stopper) and, frankly, it was working just fine. He gave some suggestions that sounded like more than I wanted to get into. We agreed that, as long as the plug was working, why not? He didn't try to pressure me into any other work. The dirt pile outside is gradually settling (saturate and hoe dirt clumps to encourage gravity to do its work). Very happy with the results and will use DinoSewer for future plumbing work."

"Installation was delayed because of weather but when the rain stopped, Tim's team had the new replacement windows done in very short order. Because of them being replacement windows they had to be trimmed out in the interior. Very good work. Mitered corners, beautiful. Finish painting completed without mess. The plaster cutting was messy but you have to expect dust. The windows are great! The insulating qualities and sound abatement make the choice a good one."

Install Garbage Disposal questions, answered by experts

In some cases, it’s more cost-effective in the long run to replace a garbage disposal, but it depends on the specific issue you’re having and the age of your disposal. You should ask a garbage disposal repair tech for a quote to repair your appliance and then see if it would be more worthwhile to replace it. Additionally, garbage disposals last for around 15 years, so if you know your appliance is reaching that age, it’s likely better to pay for a new garbage disposal rather than sink money into repairs.

While unplugging your garbage disposal and plugging it back in may help, most units have an actual reset button, a bright red switch found on the underside of your unit. If your garbage disposal needs resetting, you may notice this button sticking out about a quarter of an inch from the surface of the unit, with which it’s usually flush. Simply depress this reset button to reset the unit, and then test to ensure it’s working about 10 minutes later.

No, you do not need a garbage disposal to have a dishwasher. A dishwasher will work without one, and while it's rare to see a home with a dishwasher that doesn't have a disposal, it is possible. The two appliances pair well and are often installed together because a disposal simplifies meal cleanup.

However, your dishwasher should not be used as a replacement for a garbage disposal. Subjecting it to continuous food leftovers can lead to major clogs. If you choose not to install a garbage disposal, you should thoroughly rinse your plates or scrape excess food into the trash or a compost pile before loading them into the dishwasher to prevent plumbing issues.

Your garbage disposal will only affect the health of your septic tank if you’re using it too frequently, or filling it with organic waste that doesn’t fully break down. If the tank fills up with too many solids, the bacteria won’t have enough time to consume it before more is added, which can lead to an overflow in the drain field. Your tank will need to be pumped more frequently with excessive or improper garbage disposal use.

There are many maintenance and repair issues that lead to a malfunctioning garbage disposal. Regular clogs place wear and tear on the motors, leading to an eventual shutdown. Electrical issues at the breaker, wall outlet, or disposal itself can fry the unit. The most common cause is simply a worn-down motor. These motors can only handle so much use before powering down for good.
