"I hired the company to do a make ready [clean up & prep] on a single apartment in a building which I own in the  town where I live. I needed the property to be cleaned up so I could rent it again.  I have been a landlord for over 20 years & hadn't found a vacated property in such a mess in all my years. They did the complete interior clean-up which took about five hours. And, the complete prep of the property. they took out all the trash & junk, and cleaned up all debris left in the yard. They did such a great job with that I decided to use them for the yard maintenance also. They cleaned all my flowerbeds & got them ready for spring, placed mulch & trimmed the shrubs and flowering trees. On the inside they made everything look brand new! Cleaning the walls, painting, cleaned the carpets & stripped & polished the wood floors...making them look brand new. The appliances that stayed were cleaned inside & out. They even remembered to get all the light fixtures clean for me. Dusted all window seals & doorways. Shine mopped all they tile floors. To top it all off they even gave the bathrooms a fresh clean look by putting a new caulk seal around the tubs, sinks & shower...which gave the bathrooms a fresh face. All in all I found it to be a very stress free pleasant experience. And, I will definitely call on them for the next project because if they could do so well with a nightmare like that I'm sure the less difficult will be equally affordable and easily handled. Everything just looked so nice when they were finished. Thanks, Green Earth

"The insurance money was in the bank in which the loan for the house is from.
My banker wanted a bid and a waiver of lien to be given them BUT John Fowler never produced one to me.
My banker also wanted receipts from Fowler and I told Mr Fowler that I needed the waiver signed and all receipts as he buys
any items.  Mr Fowler say OK, but he never signed till the very end and I had to hold money till he did signed it.
As for the receipts, never did he give me any but at the end, he took all at once to the bank to give to them.  I decided to go to the bank and get copies of the receipts but beat him there and so I got a copy plus he got a copy and the bank got the originals.
My banker was great on this as we went over the receipts and I went home and did it again, more then once.
What got me most of all was he kept asking my insurance adjustor what kind of money I was going to get and using my name saying I also wanted to know.  To me, he had no reason to do this, ever.
Fowler charged my insurance for saws of $200.00 and other items plus an account that didn't have any thing to do with me and had no proof that it was plus another account.  All and all, Fowler charged my insurance to pay him $2,588.17.  His bonus money and since he broke our hand shake, didn't get anymore bonus money.
Trust, no way, the work, fine but I had to hold back more money as he didn't finish a few little things that needed to get done and so I had to hold that money just to get his men back.
He said he hates lairs!   He needs to read a dictionary on what a liar is.   I will never use him again for anything and he asked me to allow him to inspect all my rentals as he does that to.  NOPE, can't trust him, hand shake or not, can't trust him.

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

No, it isn’t less expensive to install carpet compared to vinyl floors. The cost of installing carpet can range between $3 and $11 per square foot, so it falls just over the cost of installing vinyl flooring, at an average of $3 to $7 per square foot. High-quality carpeting can also range much higher, even up to $20 per square foot.

Smaller carpet installations may take less than a day, while full-home installations can take several days. However, your carpet installation timeline will ultimately depend on a few factors, including the number of rooms you’re renovating, the project’s total square footage, and the carpet type. Installation will take longer if your carpet company needs to repair your subfloor or remove old tile flooring.

Yes, you can negotiate the purchase price of new carpet. You may also be able to negotiate installation costs or other fees in addition to the per-foot pricing of the carpet itself. You may have better luck negotiating with an independent retailer (as opposed to a big-box store), as they may have more discretion in pricing, but it’s always worth asking.

Yes, laying laminate over carpet may void the warranty of your flooring. Most laminate manufacturers specify installation over a suitable subfloor, not carpet. Deviating from these installation guidelines can invalidate the warranty. You should stick to the manufacturer's instructions to ensure warranty coverage, and you should always consult with professional laminate flooring installers near you if you have any concerns or questions regarding installation methods.

Carpet density refers to how closely together the fibers of a carpet are stitched into the carpet backing, with values ranging from 1,000 to 7,000. A carpet density value of 3,000 or higher is considered best for most homes, especially in high-traffic areas, such as a living room or dining room. If you’re comparing two carpets made of the same material, a higher carpet density can indicate better durability and longevity. However, carpet density is only one of many factors that can help you determine a carpet’s quality.
