"A great experience from first contact through installation. We’d already gotten a low-ball estimate from a local decorators “carpet guy” who disappeared when we needed him. Not going to lie, a bit of sticker shock but we’re sure the carpet quality is first rate & the company will be there if we need them in the future."

"I've used Exposition Carpeting for more than 20 years now.  They have an excellent selection and are extremely helpful, and their prices are reasonable.  When our basement flooded last year, we had wanted to get the same carpeting that had been ruined in the flood, but it was discontinued.  They were SO helpful in poring over books and helping us find something very similar.  There was a miscommunication among their staff which caused our order to be somewhat delayed, but that was the first time I'd had anything less than a stellar experience with them.
I highly recommend them.  They also have a great "remnant room" with great prices if you're looking to carpet smaller rooms."

"They were a pleasure to work with. I heard back immediately from my Angie's list message inquiry. They were able to work with my tight deadline. They communicated well with a traffic delay on the date of service. The carpet cleaning was thorough and gave new life to my 5 year old builder grade carpet. Absolutely would rehire again."

"Carl called me to discuss our project and came out the very next business day. Carl and his guys stretched out the carpet bubbles in our family room, 2 bedrooms and a hallway. He also cut out ripped seams and replaced them with other pieces of carpet. I truly could not see where the old ripped seams had been. The work is outstanding, the guys are neat and clean up work areas, and their pricing is worth every cent. Extremely pleased with this job."

"It was awesome. I had a pipe burst in my house, a lot of flood damage. I went to auto show carpet in Franklin Park. The sales staff were on point, and taught me more about carpet than I thought existed. We picked out the right roll, then his crew came to my place and installed it all. Made my life so much more easy. If I am going to buy carpet in the future, I am getting it from these guys."

Carpet Stretching FAQs, answered by experts

When deciding whether to repair or replace your carpet, consider its age, the extent of the damage, and its location. It's often best to replace the entire carpet if the damage is extensive, such as large sections needing replacement, or if it's caused by water, which can lead to mold problems. Similarly, if your carpet is nearing a decade old, replacement is likely the more logical choice. On the other hand, consider repairing your carpet if the damage is localized to one spot, like minor rips or snags, the carpet is still relatively new, or the damage is in a low-traffic area of your home.

Hiring a pro to stretch a carpet costs anywhere from $100 to $300, though this price increases if you also task the contractor to remove and replace the furniture from the room. Doing it on your own maxes out at $100, though renting the power stretcher and knee kicker extend the cost in some instances.

Patching your carpet in damaged areas or using an industry-grade cleaner on urine spots can help remove stains and scents from your carpet. If odors linger, leave baking soda on the area overnight (dry), then vacuum it up in the morning.

The best way to fix carpet matting is to start by vacuuming thoroughly in multiple directions to lift the flattened fibers. For more stubborn spots, apply moisture with an ice cube or steam, then fluff the carpet using a spoon, comb, or carpet brush. A blow dryer or warm iron over a damp towel can also help restore the carpet’s texture. For deep or widespread matting, a professional cleaning is your best bet to fluff your carpet back up to its former glory.

Most people realize it is time to replace the padding when the carpet loses springiness or feels thin and unsupportive. Other telltale signs are lumps or dips in the carpet that could look unattractive or cause tripping hazards. Similarly, if your carpet is making a crinkly sound or starting to wear out prematurely, you might need to replace your padding.
