Customers say: Terrific value

"Steve Ellis has been fantastic to work with . We did a great deal of remodeling in our family room and Steve and his crew were very knowledgeable and quick and we couldn't have hoped for better work. Everything looks amazing. They've also torn out old carpet and installed vinyl flooring in the family room, master bedroom two hallways including stairs. They have scraped and repainted our decking ..built new stairs with that and done some waterproofing repair on our deck overhang. We very highly recommend H and E Construction. LLC for any need you may have. Nicole S."

"First of all it was stucco, but you don't have a category for that. He did a great job. It took a bit long than expected because of the weather, but he was patient and did an excellent job."

"Bathroom remodel transformed a 30-year old dark, boring master bathroom into an open spa-like space. The tile on floor and shower and the granite countertop are beautiful! Joe is reliable, resourceful, and a skilled craftsman."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

Tile will almost always last longer than laminate flooring, regardless of the type of tile installed. Porcelain tile can last for 75 years or more with proper care, and even less durable ceramic tile will last for 60 years or more, provided they’re installed by a tile professional. On the other hand, laminate flooring has an average lifespan of around 20 years, and you might only get 10 to 15 years out of low-cost laminate flooring. As such, tile will add far more value to your home than laminate.

Your floors should be completely level for tile, otherwise you risk damaging the tiles in the future. When there are even small gaps or hills in the subfloor beneath the tile, this puts more pressure on the tile when you walk around on the floor. With repeated traffic, the tiles are at risk of cracking, and you’ll have to deal with tile repairs sooner than if the floor was completely level.

Glass tiles are among the most difficult to install. This is because their transparency makes the adhesive visible, and any imperfections on the opposite side are also likely to be visible. Glass tiles also must be handled carefully during installation, as they are prone to scratching. For these reasons, glass tiles often require professional installation to get the most out of their beauty and unique look.

Many homeowners have successfully retiled a bathroom themselves. It can be a challenging but rewarding process, but it’s best for someone who already has at least intermediate DIY skills.

It’s not a good idea to lay tile and grout on the same day. The adhesive or thin-set that sticks the tiles to the surface needs plenty of time to dry before you can grout. Wait for 24 to 48 hours, depending on moisture levels in the space. The tiles can become misaligned and more prone to damage if you don’t wait.
