Steve Ellis has been fantastic to work with . We did a great deal of remodeling in our family room and Steve and his crew were very knowledgeable and quick and we couldn't have hoped for better work. Everything looks amazing. They've also torn out old carpet and installed vinyl flooring in the family room, master bedroom two hallways including stairs. They have scraped and repainted our decking ..built new stairs with that and done some waterproofing repair on our deck overhang. We very highly recommend H and E Construction. LLC for any need you may have. Nicole S.

We hired Steve, owner of H&E, to install tile in a new basement bathroom. We purchased the tile, as well as all of the necessary materials for the job. The quality of the work was extremely POOR, uneven, and decorative tile crooked. I see the word mentioned of 'crew' in other reviews, he had no crew, just Steve and a plumber friend. The floor had tiles sticking up 1/4" inch (which would have cut your feet) and the tile work in the shower was crooked (he kept adding decorative tile to try and straighten out the crooked look of the shower surround.) We asked him to tear out and re-install the floor, but in the meantime, we also that the work in the shower needed to be re-done too. He refused to do the work, shouted at my husband calling him unkind names. We had to have another contractor tear out all of the tile work (shower surround and floor), the tiles just fell off the shower surround, corners of the shower were not moisture protected, which means we would of had moisture, and eventually mold because of the shoddy work done. The price was low, which should have been an alert to us, and it now seems like Steve fit us in in spare time. There was no 'crew' (as mentioned in other reviews.) He constantly told us that he had over 30 years of experience, which was not reflected in the work he did for us. Would I recommend H&E...NO!

I have hired Steve Ellis twice. Once was two years ago and the other was just this week. Both times he tore out floor tile that was installed incorrectly and then installed new floor tile. The first time was in the laundry room. Ditra mat was originally under the tile and was not thinset to the floor. So the tile was moving and grout was coming out where the traffic areas were. Tile came up in whole pieces. The second time Steve came he tore up the existing tile in the pantry, spare bath and master bath. All of which was incorrectly installed by someone else. Steve and Jeff installed new tile with backer board underneath. They did an excellent job! It looks beautiful! Very professionally done. I know, now, that my tile will NOT move because it is installed correctly. I would not use anyone else to do any work that I need done. The pricing is fair, the resulting work is excellent and they were on time each day and completed the job when they said they would. I couldn't have asked for a better job from Steve and Jeff. I have had very bad experiences with OTHER contractors in the past 40+ years. So I know a good/excellent job when I experience it.

Contractor ordered windows for project to replace windows on older house. He ordered an extra Picture window that was not needed and did not install a kitchen window he ordered because it had been recently installed by someone else. When we confronted him about the missing materials he tried to blame the vendor claiming they came back and took the windows. The vendor said we paid for the materials in full and had no reason to come back and take materials they delivered because that would be theft. Contractor refused to return calls after we left several messages with him.
Response from H and E Construction, LLC
"The project was in Pocatello Idaho, not Layton, UT. There was a mistake made by the vendor. The vendor has paid the home owner back in full for the window that the vendor picked up. H & E Construction did call the home owner back after getting a threatening message. The home owner called H & E Construction several vulgar names and words. I would suggest to any other contractor , if you hear Anthony H, steer far away. Obviously getting paid back in full still was not good enough."

Steve was great to work with. He came and did the bid for us and shortly thereafter he was here with his crew to complete the project. They were QUICK! It would have taken me months to accomplish what they accomplished in just a week or two. They stuck to the budget and let us decide how we wanted things to look. They were very accommodating and never pushed his agenda or preferences on us. The quality was great. We were very happy with how everything turned out. We would recommend H & E Construction to anyone and would be happy to work with them again in the future.

They were very efficient and finished the job in good time. They were also very conscientious and thorough with their work. We are very satisfied with the tile job in our bathrooms, entry way, on the fireplace, and backsplash in our kitchen and bathrooms. They did a beautiful job!

Steve Ellis of H&E constructions in Rigby serves Idahofalls or the upper snake river valley. He showed up on the scheduled time each day, finished my project on time, on budget with exceptional craftsmanship. I am fairly picky wife is worse. He pleased us both. Kept the construction site cleaned up. Recommended improvements that made sense and in a couple items actually saved me some money. I would strongly recommend this company. At a minimum put Steve on your list when researching contractors. He can also do full basement remodels because I spoke with him at length on what I may be doing in the future. I don't plan to interview anyone else when I proceed. If you readers are not getting that this is a top notch pro, that's my back in not expressing how well he worked for me. Look at H&E (Steve Ellis) for any remodel projects.

Kitchen - Remodel
I hired H&E construction to remodel my kitchen and bathroom August 2013. I should have backed out of the construction when they were 3 weeks late starting the project. There were a lot of additional charges and items that were discussed during the proposal did not get done. When these issues were brought up with Steve he wanted additional money. After the completion of the kitchen the water line they put in 2 week earlier froze up and had to be cut off. During the inspection under the kick out I noticed that the wood on the kick out was hanging down. Steve told me that he would take care
Response from H and E Construction, LLC
"There were add ons to the original bid which the home owner did not want to pay for. The plumbing was taken care of by H & E Construction. The plumber did not stand behind his work. He is no longer doing work for H & E Construction. Everything was resolved and taken care of and the customer was 100 % satisfied after completion. This was not a job thru Home Advisor. The home owner was living out of the state and was not living in the home while the work was being done. Communication was between phone and email. The home owner was purchasing the home."
