"They were on time, very polite, willing to do anything I needed done in connection with the patio project, and some separate from the actual patio (moving dirt away from a gate). Their work was professional, and complete to the last bit. They cleaned up the entire area when they were done. I would use them for other projects in the yard - in fact have already asked for an estimate on building some waist high garden beds."

"We hired Jeremiah two times- the first time we called him for help with a potential water issue due to the grading around our home. He analyzed the problem, developed the solution- communicated it all clearly to us and then worked his magic. He installed a French drain and graded our property around some very technical constraints, sidewalk, existing hardscaping and giant trees. Our problem was totally fixed - more than that, he left the entire area neat and cleaned up. I've never seen a guy work so efficiently. We hired him again when our main water line went out between our well and our house. Again, he had to work his magic in a very technical area, beneath a grape arbor and existing landscaping. The plumber asked for his number because he said he had never seen such exacting work. He had the grade for the pipe just right, the depth, everything. With minimal disruption. The guy is a real gentleman. A clear communicator whose work is confirmation of his professionalism. Rare."

Land Clearing Services questions, answered by experts

Pros will assess your soil type, property geography, and rain patterns for optimal slope.

A boundary survey measures the boundary lines of the property, only the length of each property line and their locations. A land survey includes a more in-depth measurement of the property, including the heights and depths of the terrain measured by a topographic survey. A boundary survey is typically the most cost-effective method for marking and measuring property lines.

Prior to excavation, you should prepare the dig site and call 311 before you sign anything.

To get your site ready for excavation, you should move anything in the area that isn’t affixed to the land. You can save money on the excavation by removing hardscaping, including walkways, decks, concrete patios, and paver patios.

Before you carry out any digging, you should call 311 to confirm that there are no utility lines running through your excavation site. Skipping this step could lead to severe injury and property damage if your excavator hits a water, sewage, or gas line.

Yes, new home construction will always require building permits, no matter where you live. In most cases, you’ll need a general construction permit, along with plumbing and electrical permits for the utility lines in your home. Depending on where you live, you’ll likely find that you also need permits for things like connection to a sewage system or installing exterior components, like decks, driveways, patios, and curb cutouts. Leave navigating the permits required for new home construction to a professional to ensure your home is built legally and safely.

If you’re planning to dig on your property, you’ll need to check for underground utility lines. Call the national call-before-you-dig 811 number. Once connected to an operator, you can schedule a site visit to mark underground lines. This way, you won’t accidentally dig into pipes and can cause major (read: costly) issues.
