For the materials alone, a square of siding costs an average of $600, but prices can range from $100 to $3,000, depending on the material. Vinyl siding costs toward the lower end of that range, while real brick or stone siding costs closer to the higher end. Composite siding is very resistant to warping that can affect some other sidings. However, it often lasts the same length of time the owners plan on living in the home (about 20 to 40 years). Certain types of vinyl siding, like vinyl shake, can be as low as $3 per square foot, but ask a siding pro if the lowest-cost option is the best material for your particular home. 

Brick and stone siding last the longest, sometimes providing protection and curb appeal for 100 years or more. These siding materials also cost more than any other, but the value you get for the money is also superior. Fiber cement siding is an excellent middle ground that’s more affordable than stone and brick. It’s a low-maintenance siding material that can still last for 50 years or longer with good maintenance.

Pressure washing is, in fact, one of the few cleaning methods that can damage your fiber cement siding. Though durable, the material cannot withstand high water pressure. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions and use the appropriate cleaning solution when cleaning If you are dealing with stubborn stains, use a scrub or metal-bristle brush, or leave it to a professional.
