Here at Final Aspect we specialize in concrete flat work, driveways, RV Pad‘s, shop floors, parking areas, new or removal and replacement, along with some commercial work. I own and operate the business myself. I am a second generation concrete mason and my sons are third generation. Homeowners need honesty, quality, and clean reliability. We give you that, which is rare in the concrete trade. I have been doing best quality work for 21 years. I worked as a foreman for large contractors, traveling all my life. In 2016 I decided to settle down in Pocatello and start my own business doing what I like to do best, residential flatwork. I am always my own toughest customer to please. Does concrete always crack? Although it is very difficult to predict, cracks can be greatly avoided and almost eliminated by proper trade practices such as making sure the soil underneath the concrete is well compacted and very flat. Another major factor in preventing unwanted cracks is ensuring sufficient jointing or control cuts.

A balcony is an open space built on the second story of a home, while a patio is a structure built directly on the ground in front of or behind a house. Patios tend to be larger than balconies and are often made from concrete, stone, or brick. Decks and patios share a similar nature but still have distinct differences.

Stone steps are often more expensive than concrete steps as they are specially cut and installed, on top of the material costs. Concrete is more readily available as many steps are precast, although custom-poured concrete steps are an option more similar in price to stone steps.

In most cases, you’ll want your patio to be 4 inches thick, although you should add reinforcement and increase the thickness up to around 8 inches if you want it to support heavier loads and resist cracking more readily. Although thicker slabs will cost more, you’ll start seeing diminishing returns at around 6 inches.

Stepping stones should match an average human stride, so the general rule is to place them about 24 inches between stones. However, many designs put stones closer together. If you choose to plant in between them, leave at least 6 to 8 inches between stones to give plants room to grow.
