You can use normal solder, which consists of a tin and copper alloy, on copper pipes. You should avoid using leaded solder, especially if you're soldering together water supply lines, as it will contaminate drinking water. One way to test if your copper pipes contain lead is to scrape off the solder. If the scraped area is shiny, it likely contains lead.

Most people choose PVC, or polyvinyl chloride/plastic, for their sewer line material. PVS has many advantages over other types of pipes. Mainly, PVC can resist corrosion and chemical damage, is lightweight (making it easier to install), is budget-friendly, and has an impressive life span (typically around 100 years).

It’s safe to carry out minor repairs on small cracks and leaks on copper pipes by yourself. Since copper melts under heat, you can solder a copper pipe to repair what’s broken. Note that it’s better to solder two couplings and a copper pipe together to fix minor leaks. This gives you some additional material for a stronger repair.

Ensure there’s a way to flush out excess water from the generator. There will either be a bin you can pull to dump water down the drain or a simple button if your generator is hooked up to a drainage pipe. 

 Ideally, you’ll want to drain after every shower, but there will be a mark on the generator that shows how much water it can hold. Failing to drain the generator can lead to automatic shut-offs or damage.

If you're replacing a similar model, you don’t always need a plumber to install a bathtub faucet since it will fit over the existing plumbing. That said, there is some room for error. If you’re uncomfortable with working on your plumbing, your installation is more complex than a simple replacement, or the piping is old and corroded, call a pro to handle the job.
