I refuse to pay for work that was not done and they will not return my phone calls to discuss the discrepancy on the invoice and now put a lien on my property even though I paid for the work that was actually done. They will not release the lien or discuss the invoice with me. I would not recommend them at all."

While almost nothing is completely fireproof, metal siding is extremely fire-resistant. It’s non-combustible so while it may eventually melt in extreme temperatures, it won’t actually light on fire itself. The cost to replace siding may make you consider getting rid of the ivy or adding a trellis or lattice support for it to grow on instead.

Clapboard siding is traditionally made of wood, and is one of the most common types of wood siding in North America. When people talk about wood siding, they are usually talking about clapboard siding. However, not all wood siding is in the clapboard style: It can be tongue-and-groove, shake, and other designs. Also, clapboard siding can sometimes be made of different materials, like vinyl or fiber cement, so the terms are not interchangeable.

If you buy new cedar, the process of cutting it usually roughs up the surface enough that it doesn’t require sanding. However, if you buy older cedar or you’re repurposing it from another application, it’s a good idea to sand it. This helps the stain settle into the grain, and results in a more uniform appearance.
