"Raul Avalos came out to remove four trees and take out some dead limbs in some other trees. They showed up at 8 am and left at 2:30 pm. They do great work and my wife and I are very happy with them. They hauled all the trees and limbs away and the yard looked great after they were done. I would highly recommend them for any tree service work."

"After being ghosted by several "established" tree companies in Central Iowa I found online, I went to HomeAdvisor to find someone who would actually do the work after coming put to put in a bid on removing my dead ash tree. These guys fron E&H Maintenance called me and came out 2 days later to take a look at my tree. They gave me a reasonable bid and came by 6 days later to do the work. Just two very capable young men who worked hard and got most the tree down in one day, even having to work around multiple power lines and dealing with limbs hanging over my house. The next day they came back to cut down the rest of the trunk and they thoroughly cleaned everything up when they were finished. They did an amazing job with less equipment and with only two guys for about the same price the larger companies had quoted me. I would highly recommend skipping those tree companies who have websites and non-responsive office staff who may quote you a bid but will never bother to return your calls or come out when promised, and go with these two hard-working entrepreneurs. You'll be glad you worked with them, I guarantee it!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

You can remove a small tree from your yard if there’s space for the tree to fall, you have the right tools and safety equipment, and you follow a clear plan of action. You’ll just want to follow the steps above carefully, and ideally, you will have experience doing similar tasks. If you have any doubts that you can do this project safely, though, you should hire a pro.

The best pro to hire for spraying trees is a tree maintenance specialist. These pros are well-versed in selecting the right spray treatment and applying it properly to ensure there’s no collateral damage to the tree or surrounding landscape. Many tree maintenance services employ certified arborists, but for these routine visits, the extra investment usually isn’t necessary.

Often, it’s the homeowner’s responsibility to handle the aftermath when a neighbor’s tree falls on their property. But if a tree has been obviously dead for a significant period of time and caused damage when it fell, a case can be made that the owner should have removed it, especially if the neighbor wrote you a letter about the tree or asked you to take it down. This can be grounds for a successful lawsuit in claims court and is a good reason to always pay attention to your trees and remove dead trees before they fall.

Sudden oak death and oak wilt are different diseases. Oak wilt first shows up in tree leaves while sudden oak death affects the branches and trunk. However, as symptoms in both can overlap, it’s best to consult a professional arborist tree expert for a proper diagnosis and development of a treatment plan.

Yes, forestry mulching can grind stumps, but the level of effectiveness depends on the equipment used. Drum mulchers can break down smaller stumps, but larger or deep-rooted stumps may require a dedicated stump grinder for complete removal. If full stump removal is necessary for replanting or construction, additional excavation may be needed. Always check with your forestry mulching provider to confirm whether they offer stump grinding and if their equipment is suitable for your specific needs.
