Mike showed up on time each day he was scheduled to be here. (Try to find any painting contractor that does that!) He kept everything cleaned up and worked with us through the entire process. We would hire Mike again for painting or refinishing and recommend him to anyone that wants a professional job done. Costs went over the estimate by nearly $5k, but we had a 10% buffer added to our loan, so we didn't have to pay out of pocket. Subcontractors: The drywallers did a great job and showed up when they said they would. The framers (Reyes Construction) did great work, but only showed up when the weather was perfect and ended up leaving the job in the middle of deck construction and never coming back because of issues with Adam, the owner. The guy who finished the deck did a great job; his name was Dennis. Concrete: I forget the name of the company, but the head guy is Ponch. Most of the work they did was fine, but their idea of backfilling and grading is abysmal. My husband had to finish their work. Also, Ponch is the one who hired the mason... Jared the mason: do not let this man work on your property! When he actually shows up, which is rare, his craftsmanship is awful. I can't add pics on here, but I would be happy to send you pics of his finished work. It is amateur at best. And when I brought up the horrible quality of his work, the owner, Adam, and his head guy, Mike, didn't care. The shoddy work hasn't been fixed and isn't going to be. Adam and Mike: communication between the two is almost nonexistent. I can't count the number of times Adam said something would be done, or would be done a certain way, but never passed the info onto Mike. I cannot believe how many times things just fell through the cracks. I can almost laugh about it now, but seriously. Number 1 and Number 2 should talk. It's Business 101. Adam's crew: most of them are very young men with little experience. Their quality of finishing is terrible. Have Mike do as much as possible. He is good, and cares about quality. The room and deck are nice and we are very happy with the end product, But getting there was difficult. I understand construction is a tough business, but the communication issues and quality of finishes will have us looking elsewhere for future projects."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/ia/west-des-moines/premier-construction-services-reviews-6452987.htm"},"position":8},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"Bob The Builder LLC","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"IA","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Karen W."},"reviewBody":"My issues with Bob Coffey are mentioned here in detail. Bob was hardly ever at my house to see how things were going. One day his 2 workers were at my house doing a two hour job, but they were there for four hours with no transportation. They had been dropped off by the owners son, who left to get some material. The two workers had no way to get lunch, so I loaned them my car, (as I was busy in the house), this went well, it's just the fact that I had to provide the transportation for their lunch. The contract was written for: tear out and pour 14 X 12 patio and build a 6 foot fence with a double gate to go around the patio. As Bob and I talked I decided to go with a four foot picket fence, which he agreed to. At this time the fence seems to be okay. The contract also states that the fence would have a six foot wide double gate, I got a single gate four foot wide, not what I wanted but agreed to. The wood slats for the fence were cut to four feet tall when the workers finished there was quite a bit of slats left over. I asked the workers to leave them and they said that Bob said to take them and I could talk to Bob about it. I think I paid for those extra slats, but unfortunately I did not ask to see a receipt. I was glad the job was finished because I was expecting out of state company, so I did not pursue this issue. I also noticed that the workers stepped on my plants which were next to the fence. Another day the workers came for about an hour and said they had to leave because they were going to Bob's girlfriend's house to put in a fence. When it came time to pay the balance, Bob tried to charge me $350.00 more for the extra slab and fence where the trash cans are placed. I told him I measured the fence and the slab and the extra was included in the contract and I told him about the other issues, the car loan, workers leaving to put a fence in for his girlfriend and the workers trampled my plants. Bob said he knew none of this and agreed to drop the extra $350.00.Now seven months later the concrete is cracking so bad that it may have to be replaced. I have tried to contact Bob, but he does not return my calls. I think he is very unprofessional because of these issues. He and Jared were a real pleasure to work with! They did excellent work that exceeded my excpectations. Troy scheduled the estimate right away that day and arrived on time. He was very essy to talk with and made me feel comfortable with his expertise. He provided several good ideas regarding the front stoop and sidewalk. We were slso able to check out other projects they completed from their website. Troy provided the estimate within a couple of days and his prices were reasonable and comparable with other estimates we received. We decided to go with Paragon concrete becausethey were able to do the stamped concrete and they were so easy to work with. Since this project was included in our Neighbothood Finance Corporstion loan it took several months for us to be ready to begin work. Troy was very understanding of the situation and put us on their calendar for mid September. We had to postpone the start date a few times because we needed other contractors to finish work on the chimney and roof before tackling the driveway. By the time we were ready for them, they were able to schedule us right away. Troy and Jared did a great job on the driveway and front stoop. They arrived on time, were considerate of our needs, and did top quality work. They kept us informed of their plans and kept on schedule. They were a pleasure to work with as I put in some drain pipe for the gutters and needed to run it under the sidewalk. We are very pleased with how the driveway looks and functions. The front stoop and sidewalk is beautiful. We couldn't be more pleased with Paragon Concrete! Front walk was removed and redone in concrete with a stamped pattern added. Project was completed quickly and the cleanup was amazing. I would highly recommend Sergio.
We received an initial estimate from LeRoy, the owner of the business. His wife then came and did the final measuring and marking of the border. We asked to add the leveling of the pavers to the job and she provided a final bid in writing for all of the work the next day. A crew of three...

I was very happy with the service I received. I had a large concrete retaining wall that collapsed entirely in places, and was leaning dangerously in other places. The wall was very long, wrapping around 2 full sides of my garage, and a portion of a 3rd side, and about 5 feet tall in some...

We hired Mike Holle Painting to refinish our cherry kitchen cabinets that had been custom made 20 years ago. Mike removed the old finish, sanded everything, applied the stain and then applied three coats of varnish for a satin finish. I have to admit that they look better now than they did...

"Alonso and crew were terrific. Very fair price, high quality work. Hired to pour a backyard patio and then added a driveway repair and garbage can pad after Alonso gave me some suggestions. Super pleased with how it came out and the care they took to regrade and seed the grassy spots that they needed to dig
out for drainage. Good communication. Did a job for a neighbor while they were here, they are terrific!"

FAQs for concrete finishing projects in Pleasant Hill, IA
Concrete repair costs range anywhere from about $0.10 to $0.15 per linear foot to fill minor cracks, to about $6 to $14 per square foot to replace damaged concrete slabs. Repair costs vary widely depending on the size and type of work needed. For example, replacing 100 square feet of driveway will cost between $600 to $1,400, on average.
The average cost of stamped concrete is around $12 per square foot, but you might pay anywhere from $8 to $28 per square foot. The average 12-foot by 12-foot patio costs $1,730 on average. Your exact pricing will depend on the patio’s square footage, the condition of the area where you want to pour the concrete, the desired stamp pattern, concrete coloring, concrete grade, and local labor prices. Don’t forget to budget for extra costs like land preparation and additional concrete fortifications if necessary.
Depending on the cost to repair your driveway, it may be more cost effective to tear out and replace it with a new concrete driveway. The cost to repave a driveway ranges between $1,400 and $12,100, including removal of the old concrete. Contact a reputable concrete contractor for advice and an estimate. They may have a good reason for going with repairs or replacement after assessing your driveway. You may also have the option to resurface your driveway or pave over it without taking out the existing one.
It’s possible to create stamped concrete yourself, but we don’t recommend it and it’s often not cost-effective. It’s easy to mess up the pattern of a stamped concrete patio or walkway, leaving you with an unsightly home exterior rather than the elegant solution you wanted. Any mistakes made during the ground leveling and concrete pouring process will also increase the risk of cracks forming on your concrete. Additionally, buying enough stamps to get the pattern in before your concrete cures can cost as much as hiring a professional to do the work for you.
Concrete contractors typically charge anywhere from $6 to $14 per square foot. Cost factors include job size, site prep, base material, accessibility, your location, concrete finish, and concrete thickness. Removal of existing concrete, asphalt, deck, pavers, and grass will cost anywhere from $1 to $6 per square foot. Homeowners can often save money by removing and disposing of existing pavers, decks, and grass. Breaking up and hauling away concrete and asphalt is difficult and time-consuming without the proper equipment and may be worth having the pros do that work.
