"I called Jason Tuesday night after supper. He came later that evening and gave us a bid on removing the tree and taking out the stump. He said he could come and remove it on Saturday. We had called a "big" name tree service for an estimate earlier. The price from the big company was slightly more, and they told us it would be six weeks before they could remove the tree. The big company also said the stump removers were a separate crew and they would come later. We decided to hire Jason. Jason was actually able to move the date up to Friday morning. Jason and his crew arrived right on time. They were amazing!! Jason and 4 extremely efficient crew members safely removed the tree (w/o harming the flower beds underneath it or other nearby trees) and also ground the stump in TWO hours!! All debris was removed. Also NO equipment was driven on our lawn. We asked them to leave the shavings from the stump, so we could use it as mulch on our flower beds. They did. Without a doubt, Jason's tree service is THE BEST we have ever experienced. No fuss. Just fast, capable efficient service. Hire them!!!!!"

"Hired to remove a dead pine tree from around pond area. Highly recommend and will use for future tree removal needs. Always nice to support small, local family owned companies. They take pride in their work!"

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

If you don’t cut down a dead, dying, or diseased tree, it can become a nesting place for pests like mosquitos, bees, beetles, wasps, fly larvae, and more. Some pests will live in the tree, while others will feed off the decaying wood. Unhealthy trees are also more likely to fall over, potentially injuring people and causing damage to your property.

Many gardeners charge an hourly rate for their services, and your total cost will depend on the amount of services and the experience of the gardener. Gardeners with basic experience charge between $20 and $30 per hour, while a more experienced gardener can charge as much as $60 to $88 per hour.

The cost of lawn mowing is about $125, which you might need on a weekly or biweekly basis. However, the cost of soil testing averages about $1,450, which should only be done every three to five years.

Opt for a barefoot tree. Pros harvest barefoot trees when they’re dormant (leafless). They shake the dirt from the root ball and pack it in moist material.

These trees can cost half as much as the trees at your local nursery, and you can buy them online—so there’s a much wider selection. Just make sure you keep your barefoot tree cool until you’re ready to plant it.

Grinding down a tree helps reduce the risk of foundation damage and pests and even helps your home’s curb appeal. Stumps can also be a safety hazard. If grass grows above the stump and someone else mows your yard, they may be in for a rude awakening when they accidentally hit it.

If it’s only a smaller branch that has died and you’re keeping an eye on the tree, it’s probably nothing to worry about. But if other nearby branches start dying off as well, or a very large branch dies, then you likely have a bigger problem. It’s time to watch for diseases and other problems and possibly get professional guidance on how to proceed.
