"Titan did a magnificent job on my property during the past week. I needed the following done: Grading work on my 3 acre property and three different types of rocks delivered. I also needed additional black dirt brought in to make it perfect. From start to finish the communication was excellent with Will. He let me know what time they would get to my job and everything that was going on during the work process. This is something that a lot of contractors just fail to do in my past experiences. They provide top notch equipment, with many different attachments for various types of jobs during the entire process. This ensures that the job is done correctly, the first time! Dutch elm disease can’t harm humans. In fact, according to Cal Fire, bark beetles aren’t even typically dangerous to trees unless that tree is already weakened. The problem comes when Dutch elm disease kills a tree. That tree is more at risk of falling and catching fire, which can pose a serious threat.

For the most part, homeowners don’t need permission to cut down a tree on their own private property. But there are some exceptions. If the tree is very large, very old, or protected for any reason (it’s a heritage species, for example), then you may need a permit in order to cut it down. Trees that are close to public property or power lines may also be subject to special rules. You can face hefty fines if you don’t follow local tree protection ordinances, so it’s worth checking with the appropriate government agency before you fire up your chainsaw.

If major support roots are cut, the tree may become unstable. Many are located just below the soil’s surface. Even cutting roots that are less than one-half inch under or outside the edge of a tree’s canopy can cut off its water, causing it to decline, die, and eventually topple.

Usually, trees cannot grow back after their stump has been ground, but some very hearty types of trees can. For example, if you have a black locust or Redford pear, the grinding will need to go deep to prevent them from growing back. Ask your tree service or stump removal expert whether your tree can resprout after its stump is ground down.

On grafted trees, tree suckers will grow from the root stock, not the branches grafted onto it. Therefore, the leaves and characteristics of the suckers aren’t the same as the tree because they are different varieties. Root stock has more hardiness, strength, or drought tolerance than its grafted limbs, so if the suckers are from fruit or flowers, it might be different than the main part of your tree.
