Showtime Homes is an all in-house design & build firm located in Urbandale, Iowa. With an interior designer and builder in-house, our offerings go beyond just building custom homes. "Honey the end result looks decent… however had we not complained repeatedly about the prep work, running paint, missing paint, graffiti looking paint, it wouldn’t look this nice. We got the impression they wanted to do half way work and get paid. Paint still needs be cleaned up in areas. Over spray on the siding. The doors were painted but the weather stripping was ripped off so now we have to replace it. Would run water over and over with no respect of who is paying the bill. Dropped a 5 gallon bucket of paint from the roof on to the driveway, getting on car, siding and driveway. Took my husband 3 hours to clean up with power washer. Additionally brought broken sprayers that he used to spray all over the grass to get to work instead of just using a box to spray on. No prep work was done on the doors and you can tell it. Paint is runs, bubbles from no sanding underneath, etc. like I said at the end it looks good on the roof, the rest I am sure we will have to redo at some point. It’s a good 10ft stand away kinda job. They are nice but if you want someone will tons of experience idk if it’s them. After all the problems he still expected full payment, he did try to fix the issues once he would see it but it could take hours for him to realize it’s that bad and then an apology text with I will come back tomorrow to fix it."

"I hired this company to repair hail damage on my home in 2023. The job was to replace the roofs on my house and garage as well as siding and gutters on my house. Long story short they came out and did the roofs in a timely manner, the siding and gutters not so much. Communication was lacking and they tried to charge me way more than what my insurance scope was. I had to get a lawyer involved. He sued me and we went to court. I won my case in February 2025 and I am still waiting to be paid the money I am owed. I do not recommend this company, buyer beware."

Painting over mold is not an effective solution and can actually make the problem worse. Instead, it traps moisture, which allows mold to grow and spread beneath the surface. Mold must be completely removed before painting to ensure the problem doesn’t recur. If mold is painted over, it may eventually seep through the new layer of paint, causing discoloration and peeling.

A foam brush or paint pad is the best tool for painting behind a toilet, as it will ensure that you can wedge into the tight space between the wall and tank and it’s less likely to drip and cause a mess than a mini roller. A standard paintbrush is the best option for doing detail work around the pipes.

Baseboard heater colors are subjective to the person painting them. Typically, baseboard heaters and trim are white, but it’s not to everyone’s taste. Lighter shades like gray and beige also work and offer contrast. If you want to hide them, paint your baseboard heater covers to match the walls so they simply blend in.

Fiberglass bathtubs require paint that can withstand repeated exposure to water and humidity. Additionally, they require a high-strength epoxy coating to protect the paint from water. A few brands make appropriate paints, some in spray cans.

However, kits are the best choice because they come with everything you need (with instructions) to ensure a durable finish. These kits may require mixing the paint with a hardener that gives it the strength to withstand repeated water exposure. 

It’s a matter of personal preference on whether you want to tip the crew or the lead painter. You can tip the crew as a whole, just the lead painter, or each individual painter. Do what feels right in the context of the job.
