"John was professional and thorough. He returned my interest call promptly and came by the next day to do an estimate on outlets for a bathroom and kitchen appliance. On the day of the job, he spent the time to do the job correctly. In researching his fees, I found him fair and competitive with the local market. I am extremely pleased with the quality workmanship on my project. I would highly recommend Abbott Electric, LLC."

"Updating this Zinsco electrical panel has been our top priority. Our home inspector warned that the outdated brand has become obsolete and creates a great risk to homeowners due to their faulty circuit breakers. This meant that if our circuit was overloaded or short, the breaker wouldn’t trip, and we would be tackling an electrical fire. We are so grateful to Elias Sugui (@certified_electrical_services) for taking on this project with ease. His calm demeanor and obvious expertise settled our nerves. From inquiry to execution, Elias provided exceptional service and professionalism. We’ll be sleeping much better knowing the job was done by him. We highly recommend reaching out to them for any and all of your electrical needs!"

"amane Construction Group was nothing short of amazing. The owner Reid met with us in the beginning to go over the cost, timeframe and work that was to be made to our home renovation/electrical upgrade. Reid was very punctual, profession and friendly. He was always available to communicate if we had any questions or concerns. His team was able do the work within the agreed timeframe and on budget with little to no issue. Reid always relayed to us if there was any unexpected issues that his team would run into during the renovation. Highly recommend YCG LLC"

"Dick and Dave reviewed my plans to install a level 2 electric vehicle car charger in my garage, which included a full rewiring of the entire garage, and installation of a new 20 breaker 200 amp subpanel. Dick was very responsive and was helpful with researching the project design prior to pulling the city permit. Dick provided the written estimate at a reasonable price. They started work immediately once I approved the project. Dick and Dave were very prompt and professional with this installation. I will highly recommend Aloha Solar and Electrical to my friends and family. Mahalo Dick for all your help on my project."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

A Tesla Powerwall comes with a standard 10-year warranty that guarantees the unit will provide at least 80% power during this period. After this time, a Powerwall may continue to operate, even if at a reduced capacity for another 10 to 15 years. Other factors can affect the long-term performance and durability of your Powerwall, such as energy consumption and how often you charge the battery.

Moving an electrical outlet typically costs between $25 and $300. The final price depends on several factors, including the type of outlet, the condition of your existing wiring, and the state of your walls. For example, working on exposed walls without drywall is easier and less expensive for an electrician. However, if the walls are finished, the cost may increase to account for necessary repairs afterward. It's recommended to consult a professional for a precise quote based on your specific situation.

Under-cabinet lighting is generally energy-efficient, especially when using LED technology. Compared to traditional ceiling lighting or older bulb types like halogen and incandescent, LED under-cabinet lights consume significantly less energy, which helps reduce operating costs. This applies to various forms, including strip lights, puck lights, and built-in fixtures. For an option that uses no electricity, consider battery-operated puck lights. While they require periodic battery replacements, they have the added advantage of functioning during a power outage.

You can use a double-pole switch for a regular light fixture, but it's unnecessary and won’t be the most efficient choice. A single-pole switch works perfectly for standard lights. Double-pole handle high-power appliances that require both hot wires to be disconnected. Using a single-pole switch for regular lights is more cost-effective, simpler, and more common in residential settings.

The most common type of electrical outlet is a 3-prong outlet, which has two flat blades (one is wider than the other) and a round grounding pin. Older homes typically have 2-prong outlets that aren’t as safe as more modern options and are generally not up to current electrical codes.  Other outlets you can find in your home include 20A, 125 volt varieties for larger appliances like refrigerators or washing machines.

There are also GFCI outlets, which protect against electrical shock in wet areas, such as bathrooms and kitchens, and arc fault circuit interrupter (AFCI) outlets, which protect against electrical fires caused by arcing.
