"Amphibious blushing was great. Max was professional and pricing was very fair. Was having issues with drainage and he took care of it with 2 toilets and 2 showers. Snaked and then put the seal around both toilets."

"These guys are great! They came out on a late Saturday night on an emergency and only charged $300 (other companies wanted between $400-$550) to clear my main line! They had to pull a toilet and Pat was amazing! He had us totally assured that one way or another he will get it cleared since we have a baby in the house this was very important for us! And it was not an easy task, roots in my sewer line but after about 45 minutes of pulling, yanking snatching etc.on that cable and he got the roots cleared! I now see why such work can cost, this poor guy caught HLL but he got the job done. They also guarantee their work, most others will not on blockages. Nice uniforms too. Call these guys, they are awesome and we enjoyed Pat tremendously CHC SERVICES are my guys for plumbing from now on. Warren J."

Toilets questions, answered by experts

Silicone-based caulk is known for its waterproofing qualities, so it’s the best option for any bathroom area. While it’s often more expensive, it will provide a better, longer-lasting seal than acrylic or latex caulk. Use it along the base of the toilet to prevent leaks and keep the area clean and protected.

It is safe to flush the toilet even if the pipes are frozen, and this may even help clear out the pipes. But if the supply line is frozen, the toilet won’t refill itself until it’s thawed out. You can still flush by pouring water into the tank to refill it.

The water in your toilet tank refills after each flush. So if you see dirty water in the bowl, you should check the tank to see if it’s coming from there. A dirty toilet tank can be the result of sediment in the water itself—-after all, the water will sit in the tank between flushes and can cause the interior to change into a dingy color. Faulty toilet components, like an old flapper, corroded tank lever or chain, or damaged seals, can also lead to dirty water as the materials break down inside the tank. You can clean the toilet tank or change out the old parts to give it a fresh start.

Usually it’s fine to leave a toilet clogged overnight, as long as it’s not close to overflowing. In some cases, the extra time may give the clog time to work itself out. For example, if it’s caused by an excess of toilet paper, letting it sit could result in the clog dissolving and you may be able to simply flush it away by the time you wake up.

Only let it sit though if you have more than one toilet in the home.

According to the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC), the distance between your trap and the vent should be no more than 6 feet. For your vent to work properly, it needs to feed into the drain line within 6 feet of trapways that connect to it. Using this formula, you should be able to determine whether you will need multiple vent lines.
