Initially thought it was an OS update issue but the hard drive had failed along with other components (including 'CPU). Because other components were involved, a new solid state hard drive was put into a laptop with a working processor - same type CPU as in the failed unit. The project was to repair the planks on the deck and the associated stairs. Unfortunately, the original contractor had failed to install flashing, leading to rot on the stringers and joists that was not visible before the start of the project. As a result, both the stringers and joists needed repair. To me, this was not only beyond the original project scope but could be covered by twining the existing joists? an easier fix. Despite this, Malik completely replaced all three stair stringers and several joists at no additional cost.
