"Craig and Jason did a fantastic job and as soon as I set foot on the the porch I felt as if I were standing on level ground. They exceeded my expectations. Both Craig and Jason were very respectful and kept me informed of what they were doing, what needed to be done and how to finish up the project myself. (The entire area needs to be repainted. I knew that even before the project started. ) I am grateful for both men and highly recommend them and AquaGuard to anyone who is looking for a great Company with great employees!"

"When I ordered my windows, they assured me they could get them done while I was off from work for the holidays, saving me from wasting vacation days. Installation was scheduled weeks in advanced I was doubtful it was all going to work out. I was having all of the windows in my house replaced and screened windows on my back porch replaced with sliding windows. The crew showed up 30 minutes early and got right to work. I was assured they could get it all done in one day. I was truly doubtful when I saw a crew of 3 men showed up. I was expecting about 10 guys, but they got right to work and it was truly amazing to watch. They worked like a well oiled machine and within a couple of hours had every window in my house removed and had started installation of the new windows. Installation and doing all of the repairs to damaged wood and finished trim work was complete in about 11 hours. I was amazed. They installed and cleaned up and were gone. No mess, no trash left. It was like they were never here except my house looked awesome with it’s new windows! I would highly recommend Champion Windows. Quality and warranty 2nd to none."

Glaziers questions, answered by experts

Hard water stains can permanently damage your glass if left untreated. The minerals dissolved in the water can etch the glass, causing long-term damage and affecting the overall integrity of the surface. Luckily, it is pretty simple to remove hard water stains by using vinegar, baking soda, or commercial cleaners.

Yes, it is possible to repair a damaged or cracked mirror, but whether you should do it yourself depends on the extent of the damage. For minor issues like small chips, cracks, and scratches, you can use a DIY approach. Resin-based repair kits can fix minor cracks, while scratches can often be removed with metal polish, nail polish, baking soda, or a glass polisher. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the best results.

However, for more significant damage, DIY repair is not recommended. Repairing and resilvering mirrors is a delicate process that can involve caustic chemicals and requires a high level of precision. The materials for a DIY attempt can cost over $100, which may not be a significant saving compared to hiring a professional. Since a failed attempt could result in more damage and higher repair costs, it is often better to hire a mirror repair expert from the start, especially for large, valuable, or extensively damaged mirrors.

For small, non-pressure-related cracks, you can fix them using two-part epoxy. This spares you the cost and hassle of replacing the glass. Simply clean the surface and remove any debris or dirt, wait for the glass to dry, then spread an even layer of mixed epoxy solution over the crack. You can use a putty knife or rubber spatula to push the epoxy into the crack.

The best way to pack mirrors is to use specially padded cartons or boxes made for mirrors. Be sure to thoroughly wrap the fragile mirror in padded paper or bubble wrap before sliding it into its box. That way, there’s a protective barrier in between the mirror and the box. Then, fill in any gaps with crumpled paper or additional packing materials.

Cutting glass yourself can be dangerous, as the edges are sharp and can easily cause lacerations if you’re not careful. Working with larger pieces of glass is especially dangerous, as they can be cumbersome and difficult to handle without shattering. If you’re uncomfortable doing the work yourself, you can hire a professional to get the job done safely.
