Customers say: True professional

"I always call William for any A/V services I need. He is the most knowledgeable person in terms of what is needed for each job and looks for the most efficient and aesthetically pleasing ways to configure the necessary electronics. On this TV, I needed a new mount and a new electrical outlet. These were installed seamlessly and he was able to get a tilting mount to hide the cable box so that an additional unit self was not needed. Also, he reconfigured my cable boxes to ensure the room without a real cable outlet was set up on the wireless receiver. William is extremely thorough. He always checks everything to ensure all affected TVs and boxes are working effectively and the way the owner envisioned. I am a returning customer and will continue to use William for all my home A/V needs. He is the best in the business!!!"

Home Security Systems questions, answered by experts

Yes, keyless locks can deter burglars, mostly because they boost security and offer advanced features. Most models allow for unique codes or temporary access, making it harder for intruders to break in. Many of these smart locks even alert you if someone tries to tamper with them. However, you need to remember that while they provide an added layer of protection, no lock is completely foolproof. Pairing these locks with good security habits—like proper lighting and surveillance cameras—creates a strong defense to help stop intruders in their tracks.

Yes, it's possible for hackers to access wireless security cameras by guessing or stealing passwords. Additionally, your camera's cloud content can also be hacked. Finally, some criminals use Wi-Fi signal jammers to disable wireless cameras.

The cost of home automation averages around $1,000, with most projects falling between $200 and $2,000. The total cost depends on several factors, including the level of automation, brand, system features, home size, and location. For a DIY approach, basic home automation technology can cost between $100 and $500, though the scope and interaction between products may be limited. High-end, all-inclusive systems for larger homes can cost anywhere from $10,000 to $150,000, especially when they include smart appliances like refrigerators and dishwashers that require extensive wiring. Additional costs, such as subscriptions for maintenance services, can also impact the total price. It's often helpful to set a budget and consult with an expert to determine the best options for your home.

Grounding is a great first step to prevent electrical shock, but you can take it further with GFCI outlets and AFCIs (arc fault circuit interrupters). In particular, AFCIs help protect against the type of electrical arcs that cause fires, like if a mouse chews on a wire or your laptop starts overheating at the wall. These are required in some areas of your home.

Security cameras do not need wiring if they are wireless, meaning they are battery-operated and can connect through Wi-Fi. You’ll need to change the batteries on a wireless camera and ensure you have a steady connection to Wi-Fi for video storage. If you have a wired security camera, you’ll need to plug it into an outlet or other power source and a DVR device.
