Small jobs welcome

"Kelton, Pops and his son were great to work with. They were very flexible and worked around our schedule. The installation was perfect. They remove 9 ceiling fans and replaced all of them. I am very pleased with the results . I will hire them again."

"My a/c wasn't blowing cold air the tech, Andrew, showed up and got right to it. He found the problem (the capacitor) and got it replaced in less then 30 minutes. It's working like a charm now. He explained everything as he went along and was top notch professional."

"Reginald was quick to provide a very reasonable quote, half the cost of another electrician, and his crew was available to next day - the soonest that I wanted. His sons showed up on time, did the work according to what I needed and wanted, and cleaned up well after they finished - on time. They moved a ceiling light box, required and added another one, added lights + switch above a built in bookcase, added an entryway light box + repurposed an unused switch, and added a switch for the living room light so I can turn it on when I come down stairs. I’ll be getting more electrical work done in other parts of the house, and I will absolutely contract with them for the work. Highly recommend!"

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

Ceiling fans require periodic cleaning of blades to avoid dust accumulation, checking screws and connections for firmness, and occasional lubrication for components, keeping the fan running smoothly and quietly over time.

If you’re replacing an old fixture with a ceiling fan, you usually won’t need a permit, but if your electrician runs new wiring for the fixture, you likely will need a permit. Building permits are necessary in most municipalities if you’re making changes to your electrical system, so even if you have partial wiring run to the area and need new wiring installed for added functionality, you’ll probably need a permit. Your electrician should be able to let you know if you need one, and they’ll typically file the paperwork for you.

Identifying the source of noises is your first step to soundproofing a room without overspending. Generally, sound comes from inside or outside of the house. Inside noises include creaking floors, living noises like TVs in the living room, cooking sounds, or kids being kids. External noises generally include incremental weather, disturbing neighbors, and street traffic. Inside noises require you to soundproof floors, ceilings, and doors, whereas outside noises may require you to soundproof your attic, windows, and walls facing the streets.

Coffered ceilings often come with additional embellishments and accessories, including tin panels, medallions, trim, molding, recessed lights, and finials. Whether you’re looking for a simple grid pattern or want an elaborate, decorative ceiling with all the bells and whistles, there are plenty of options to choose from.

To determine if your ceiling box can support a fan, you must check if it is specifically fan-rated. Manufacturers are required to indicate this on the box itself. You may need to remove the existing light fixture to look inside the ceiling box for an inscription stating it is rated for fan use. If you do not see this confirmation, the box is likely not strong enough and must be replaced with a fan-rated junction box. For a proper and safe installation, you should also use a fan brace to secure the new box between the ceiling joists, which provides the necessary support for the fan's weight and motion.
