We are different from most of the other dealerships in the Atlanta area, not only one of the few family owned dealerships, but the oldest family owned Ford dealership in the Atlanta metro area. This means our overhead is less and we can offer you vehicles for less! My father bought into Estes-Williams Ford in 1968 and renamed it Five Flags Ford until he purchased the remaining stock and John Bleakley Ford was born. The backward “K” was my father’s idea and it started around 1974. The shamrock logo comes from my father’s Irish heritage, he was born and raised on a farm about 60 miles northwest of Dublin. We truly are a family business, I have been involved in the dealership since high school and working full-time since 1985.

Beautiful workmanship on time, guaranteed. A quality repair is invisible. Your car will be returned to you on time, looking like new in the area we have repaired, and leaving behind no signs of repair work (unless otherwise specifically agreed). In the uncommon event that we fail to meet this standard , we will provide you with free shuttle and/or loaner car if needed. We strive to give an extraordinarily high level of courtesy and convenience to our clients. We stand behind everything we do. We guarantee that our parts, paint, and workmanship will perform like a brand-new vehicle would. Our office maintains a good working relationship with every major insurer in the area. However, insurance is a for-profit business. Sometimes there is a conflict of interest between restoring your vehicle to pre-accident condition and keeping costs down for the insurer. We will professionally and proactively negotiate on your behalf for everything necessary to make you 100% whole.

Welding questions, answered by experts

You should pick steel for your new support beam for a few reasons. While steel is more expensive than other materials, such as laminated veneer lumber or glulam, it offers the following benefits:

  • Fire-resistant

  • Unaffected by pests

  • Longer-lasting

  • Stronger against water damage (when galvanized against rust)

The difference between a lintel and a beam is what loads each is responsible for supporting. A lintel is a type of beam that is responsible only for supporting the load above an opening, such as a window or door, and transfers the weight to the side walls around an opening. A beam supports the slab and transfers the load to nearby columns, which then disperse the load to the ground.

Using a steel frame may raise the value of your home. Steel is more heat resistant, has better longevity, and doesn’t need any upkeep compared to traditional wood. You can also customize a steel build a little easier than other materials like brick, concrete, and vinyl—which have trouble bending and adapting to renovations.

A steel beam is stronger than a wood beam and requires fewer vertical supports underneath, which means it’s a better option for larger structures or if you want an open space under your home that doesn’t have posts as obstructions. However, steel I-beams cost more than wood ones, and they can be difficult to install retroactively, as getting them into the basement area can be challenging, if not impossible.

Yes, an LVL beam is more affordable than the cost of a steel I-beam, totaling between $50 and $200 per linear foot as opposed to the $100 to $400 per linear foot you’d pay for a steel I-beam. Not only is the wood material more affordable than steel, but it’s also more similar to traditional wooden beams and doesn’t require as much retrofitting to connect joists.
