"I am so thankful to have found B&V. They were responsive, detailed, and timely in all of the work they performed for me. I am thoroughly pleased with their services. They scraped popcorn ceilings off, repaired drywall, demoed bathroom vanities and kitchen cabinets, painted cabinets and the entire house. They are a great team!"

"Mack and his wife were great. They were very polite. We asked them to fix our leaky shower/pipe and replace the faucet in the master bath. They came to give us the estimate the very next day. Later, we received the quote that night through email. They came to repair the leaky shower/pipe in the next few days. Not only they fixed the leaky pipe, they also patched the drywall and painted the wall - what a job well done. We were very pleased for the quality of the completed work. The cost of repair was very competitive. We'll definitely use their service again."

Customers say: Quality work

"We recently had some drywall repair/painting done in our townhome . We found Collins woodworks on home advisor and Jarrod and His wife Fabi did an excellent job. They took such special care with the prep and because of that step , did minimal mess, but they also did a fantastic job with the clean up . Very conscientious and very neat and just a joy to have in your home! We will definitely be using them in the future."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Although they are used for similar tasks, spackle and joint compound are not the same. Joint compound, also known as drywall mud, consists of limestone and gypsum and is primarily used for large-scale projects like taping and finishing seams on new drywall. Spackle is composed of gypsum and binding agents, making it a thicker compound best suited for small wall repairs like filling nail holes or cracks, as it dries quickly and is easy to sand. For small repairs, either product can be suitable. However, you can use joint compound for small jobs in place of spackle, but you cannot use spackle for large-scale taping and mudding projects.

Wall anchors are suitable for drywall and plaster walls, which are common in most homes. However, different wall materials may require specialized anchors. For concrete or masonry walls, you'd typically use concrete anchors. When dealing with other wall types, such as brick or tile, specific anchors designed for those materials may be necessary. Always consult with a hardware specialist or check the manufacturer's recommendations to ensure you select the appropriate anchors for your specific wall type.

You should do a little bit of sanding between adding coats of mud. Knock down any ridges or significantly imperfect areas through sanding, which should help you apply the next coat of mud smoothly. If your first coat of mud is pretty smooth after it dries, a quick sanding is all you’ll need. Don’t forget to wipe away any dust after each sanding process.

Yes, even if you’re being careful, removing tile can damage your drywall to some degree. However, you can minimize the damage done to it by eliminating a majority of the grout and taking your time prying each tile off. Also, it's worth noting that you might have more drywall damages to deal with if your tile is set into the mortar.

There are several things you should not do when installing drywall. Common mistakes include: adding too many screws, over-sanding, not adding backing support, and installing drywall unevenly. You also should avoid screwing into the same place twice, installing Sheetrock with tapered edges on the outside, and making too many joints.
