Atlanta Builders & Remodeling, Inc. provides homeowners with quality remodeling services, including but not limited to the following: bathroom remodeling, kitchen remodeling, room additions, basement finishing, garage Residential building and remodeling, roofing, gutters, custom decks and patios, sunrooms, custom cabinetry, fencing, siding, electrical, plumbing, replacement windows and doors, roofing, interior and exterior painting, flooring, concrete driveways/walkways, etc., and general handy man work.

"We engaged Atlanta Builders for a small backsplash project in our kitchen and laundry room with the hope that if all went well we would hire them to remodel our master and upstairs bathrooms. We initially gave them a down payment of $2,750, half of the project cost upfront. Unfortunately, Atlanta Builders did not cost out the materials properly with the Tile Supplier and the new project price went up to $6,250 after we removed a mosaic inset from the backsplash and continued with only the subway tile. The $6,250 represented $1,350 in tile/caulk materials and $4900 in labor and overhead - a project cost over our budget, but we wanted to get the project done -- it had been 6 months. On delivery of the materials, we discovered the subway edging was not included in the materials and labor. We expected the project cost to now increase to between $7,200 to $8,000 for a simple backsplash job. Obviously, we had to cancel the project. We made an offer to Atlanta Builders for them to retain $1,750 of our initial down payment for their time and the cost of the materials in receipt. However, Atlanta Builders kept the $2,750, now defined as a contractual 'deposit.' We're out $2,750, but consider ourselves lucky having not signed a contract with Atlanta Builders for the master and upstairs bathroom project."

"Process was rough from start to finish. One wood install crew came out multiple times to install flooring in 2 large rooms, 2 hall ways, closets, and pantry. They installed light oak colored transitions on some areas and dark black colored in other areas, floor is a walnut or dark brown. Job drug on for months due to transitions coming up/unglued. Hall way had to be repaired due to transitions being re-glued so many times.(That's what the guy who was running the show said to me.) And the repair the boss of the wood floor crew did looked like crap. I had to hire a guy a few months after that to re-do that area. Several transitions were not seated properly. One was actually stuck mostly to my kitchen floor. Area in the hall needed more glue, it was spongy. When they ordered the 2nd set of transitions, they got the same wrong color. They scratched/gouged my existing 20 yr old wood floor in the foyer, scuffed walls, and other minor stuff. I also got floor store to put vinyl in my master bath. One guy comes out. Damages my waterline to toilet, re-installs and splits 20yr old 1/4 round and covers it with caulk. He left me with lumps under vinyl, then comes out to fix it. Left cuts in new vinyl. 2nd guy comes out to remove and replace it. He leaves and a section is making a sticky noise, its not bonding to slab. He leaves job not complete because he didn't bring cutting tool for transition. the one that was already cut, he glued it with white caulk. He didn't bring glue for wood either. And, yep, more white caulk on my baseboard. Good bye Floor Store. Had to file complaint with BBB."

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

The difference between a 40-oz. and 60-oz. carpet is the carpet face weight, meaning the 60-oz. carpet weighs 20 ounces more per square yard. When looking at two similar carpets of the same material and type, the 60-oz. carpet face weight likely indicates higher quality and more durability due to heavier carpet fibers.

You can lay carpet by yourself, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you should. DIY carpet installation can save you on labor costs, but you’ll have to pay more to get the right tools and equipment first. A knee kicker, carpet stretcher, and seam roller are a few pieces of equipment you’ll need that you may not already have lying around. And keep in mind that repairing or replacing carpet later because of a bad installation is twice as expensive as paying a pro to handle it in the first place.

Installing carpet padding is mostly a matter of measuring the room and cutting the carpet pad to size with a utility knife. You can save some money on carpet installation costs by doing it yourself. Before installing the carpet padding, you should install the tack strips around the room’s perimeter and prepare the subfloor by cleaning and making any necessary repairs. Then, unroll the carpet pad and cut sections as needed. Staple the carpet pad to the subfloor along the edges, leaving the tack strips exposed.

Spring and fall are the best seasons for installing carpet. Both seasons benefit from moderate temperatures and low humidity levels, which can help the carpet acclimate to the room and settle properly once installed. However, installing carpet during the winter months could result in lower costs, as demand for this service is low.

In most cases, you don’t need to put anything under carpet tiles—unlike regular carpet, which often has a layer of carpet padding beneath it. Carpet tiles attach directly to the floor (as long as it’s a firm surface like plywood, concrete, or tile) with peel-and-stick adhesive, double-sided carpet tape, or carpet glue.
