"When I called for help I was called back by a very knowledgeable young man who set up a time to come right out to help us with what we saw as an emergency situation They explained what they were doing and sent me pictures ( I am out of town). To show the steps of the work they were completing. Very nice men. Clean up was from what I can see wonderful"

"This is the first time I used Goss Plumbing and he will be the only plumber I ever use in the future. He is on time, polite, professional, and easy to deal with. He came out one Sunday and s Fixed my leak quickly. He also corrected a problem left by a previous plumber. Mike knows his business well and his truck is equipped and organized. I highly recommend Mike to anyone who needs and wants good quality work at a fair price."

"Chris Lyons was so friendly and personable. He replied to my inquiry very quickly and was thoroughly helpful. His estimate was very fair and his work is impressive. I highly recommend him for your plumbing needs. My tiny old home has yucky brittle galvanized pipes and some other boogered up plumbing issues. He tackled and fixed the issues with excellence. His attention to detail and my concerns made me feel like a valued customer. He seems to take pride in his work and cleaned up wonderfully behind himself and did an extra !! Wow....that was a nice perk ....I feel very blessed that God picked him for the job.."

Drain Cleaning questions, answered by experts

No, you should not see water in a sewer cleanout. If you do, it could indicate that you have a block or leak in your main sewer line—which can cause sewage to back up inside your home and potentially flood your yard. Your best bet is to call a local sewer cleaner if you notice any water or sewage around your cleanout.

You should not attempt to snake your sewer yourself. Accessing and snaking your sewer requires heavy-duty equipment, and while renting is possible, misusing it can damage your sewer main and leave you with very expensive repair costs, not to mention potential environmental issues and severe water damage. Accessing your sewer also exposes you to hazardous sewer gasses, and failing to seal the sewer properly after work can be very dangerous. It’s always best to hire a professional sewer cleaner near you to handle this type of work.

If your drain doesn’t have metal crosshairs or crossbars, you should use a tub drain extractor. These tools create a grip on the drain so you can turn it using a 1/2-inch ratchet drive, drain key, or wrench. Your drain may not have crosshairs if it's old and broken.

It can take anywhere from half an hour to a few hours to fix a main line clog, depending on the cause and severity of it. The job should not take more than a day to complete. Keep in mind that the main line is not the same as your home’s sewer lines (which connect to the main line and run to your house). Your city is responsible for any clogs or damage to the main line itself.

No. You should dispose of all oil-based finishing products through a local hazardous waste program. Not only can oil-based finishes be hazardous for the environment if disposed of in the sink, but they can cause clogs in your pipes and stop up your drains. Most municipal garbage or waste disposal companies have a specific location or pick-up schedule for hazardous materials, so that’s your best bet to get rid of excess finishing products.
