They arrived on time, were extremely professional, and repaired my granite countertop so flawlessly that you can’t even tell where the crack had been. "It was challenging trying to find a business in the Gilmer County area to reattach our stainless steel sink (under mount) to our granite countertop, especially during Covid-19. Many businesses never called back or were closed, some had quoted prices that were exorbitant. JD Granite not only quoted a reasonable price, they were able to schedule an immediate appointment. A slight leak problem was also corrected all within the price quoted. They were professional, prompt and tidy. Thanks to Daniela who started the ball rolling and kept me apprised every step of the way. Way to go JD Granite!!"

Stone Countertops FAQs, answered by experts

Marble is high maintenance, like most other types of natural stone flooring. However, because it is naturally a more porous stone, there are a few added care instructions. You will need to clean it often to prevent dirt and grit from scratching the finish and surface, keep it dry, clean up spills immediately, and have it professionally sealed and refinished at least once a year to maintain the shine and water-tight surface. However, investing in maintenance is a smart move because marble floors are among the most beautiful and valuable types of flooring when properly cared for.

Deciding between marble and granite for kitchen countertops depends on your personal priorities, budget, and style. Both materials have similar costs for material and installation.

Marble offers a luxurious aesthetic and timeless beauty, but it is more expensive and requires more maintenance. It is susceptible to staining and etching from acidic substances like coffee, wine, or tomato sauce if spills are not cleaned up quickly.

Granite is highly durable, heat-resistant, and easier to maintain, making it a practical choice for busy kitchens.

Both materials should be sealed to protect against damage, but they can still be vulnerable to stains if spills are left on the surface for too long.

Concrete and granite are both extremely durable materials. One isn’t necessarily better than the other. It depends on what you’re looking for. That said, granite is less costly and requires less maintenance. Furthermore, concrete is more prone to staining and cracking, though you can patch the cracks using a concrete patching compound.

Yes, marble countertops are fairly soft and can scratch easily, especially compared to rival materials. However, most marble scratches are easy to repair, thanks to marble polish and repair kits. Deep scratches will require a professional.

Different types of engineered stone countertops require varying installation methods. The best option is to hire a countertop installer, especially if you are unfamiliar with the stone you plan to use. Generally speaking, quartz is the easiest for DIYers because you can cut it on site with a diamond blade and diamond hole saw. The average DIYer is unlikely to have the special tools to cut sintered stone countertops. Before diving into a project, make sure you have the experience and tools to do the job correctly.
