"Christian and his team have incredible attention for detail. My house looks so beautiful now with the detailed exterior paint updates. I have also used this group to paint a deck, stain and update interior stairs, do interior painting work and install board and batten. These become not just quick projects, but works of art that bring my family so much joy. This team treats each project like itâ s for their own family with the same level of perfection and expertise. Highly recommend this group. Christian is also a great listener and made sure my visions came to life. When I struggled to make a final decision, he was very helpful at guiding me to a final choice. I am thrilled with the work this team did for our home and I love how it has come together so well. Christian has a great eye for color and design in addition to skilled painting and carpentry."

"Alonso built us a great deck that we enjoy on a daily basis! He offers friendly service, was always on time, would always pick up the phone, and would even come by the house at a momentâ s notice if we ever had any questions. We have hired him for other jobs since the deck."

"This was one of the best experiences we have had working with a contractor. It was a for a large install of ceramic tile. From removing the old hardwood, to leveling, to tile install and quarter round install through final cleanup, all was great. The finished flooring looks fantastic! Very diligent, thorough and professional from start to finish. As a bonus they also painted an area of our home with 16’ ceilings and it looks great, saving us time and a lot of effort. 5 stars plus!!!"

Small jobs welcome

"Ricardo and his team at Remova were amazing. They worked with my wife and I, to make sure that the deck we wanted was within our price range. They were professional, reasonable, and courteous. They ended up finishing our deck, at our specs, $500 under budget, 2 days early, and somehow didn’t wake our 9 month old once. If you are still not sold, Ricardo came back to my house after the job was finished and helped get the left over materials back to Home Depot for my refund. We cannot recommend these guys enough. 10/10"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Limewash and whitewash are two techniques used to give brick a light, matte finish, but they differ in composition, application, and permanence. The best choice depends on your aesthetic goals and the specific surface.

Composition

  • Limewash: A natural and environmentally friendly option made from limestone, water, and sometimes pigments. It is breathable and soaks into porous surfaces like brick.

  • Whitewash: Traditionally made from lime, water, chalk, and binders, but a similar look can be achieved with watered-down white paint. It is paint-based and sits on top of the surface.

Appearance and Finish

  • Limewash: Provides a natural, textured appearance that allows the brick's character to show through. It offers a more traditional finish.

  • Whitewash: Creates a softer, more opaque finish, often used for a rustic or shabby-chic style.

Application and Permanence

  • Limewash: Is semi-permanent and can be removed, making it a good choice if you might want to change the look in the future. It requires more skill to apply and cannot be used on previously painted brick.

  • Whitewash: Is a more permanent solution. It is more forgiving to apply and can be used on painted brick. However, because it sits on the surface, it can trap moisture.

Ultimately, if you want a breathable, natural, and reversible finish for unpainted brick, limewash is a great option. If you need a more permanent, opaque coating that can be applied over painted surfaces, whitewash is the better choice. Whitewashing may also be more economical, costing approximately $1.40 to $4.20 per square foot.

Eggshell and satin finishes are best for porches because they sit in the sweet spot between scuffable matte and distracting high gloss. Your porch sees a fair amount of wear and tear, so you don’t want paint that’ll show every mark like matte, but you don’t want to be blinded by glossy paint in the sun either. Eggshell and satin have durability and a look that sits nicely in the middle.

The number of coats you need to apply when whitewashing a surface depends on how opaque you want the final product to be. If you're going for a transparent, barely there look, a single coat or two may suffice. For fuller coverage, you'll want to use multiple coats. Another option is to use a less diluted paint to get a thicker coverage.

For homes in areas with extreme weather, high heat, or intense sun exposure, high-quality acrylic paint is the best option. Acrylic paint is durable, resistant to both heat and cold, and provides a protective barrier with excellent UV resistance. For best results, look for acrylics that contain natural earth pigments, which are better suited for resisting sun damage. While oil-based paint is also durable, it can be prone to fading in high heat and can become too viscous to apply easily in cold temperatures. Additionally, choosing a neutral or light color like gray, beige, or white can help, as these colors absorb less heat than darker shades.

While the answer varies based on weather, 10 a.m. is a good time to start painting. The dew will have dried, meaning there’s no moisture on the house, and the temperature will likely be moderate and the sunlight less direct. Starting mid-morning should also give you enough daylight and pleasant weather to work on the job for several hours.
