"The service agreement was to cut down a tree and then cut into firewood. Tree was cut down and part of the trunk was cut into huge logs, one of which rolled down and damaged my property WHILE they were there (he didn't tell me)!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Will not respond to texts or phone calls. Very unprofessional."

Using a stump grinder leaves the root system in place for it to decompose over time, whereas digging up the tree stump removes the roots and the stump. This aptly named tool has blades that spin to break down a tree stump quickly and leave the roots behind to naturally decay. You can also use shears, a hatchet, a reciprocating saw, or other root removal techniques to finish the job.

Since summer is a busy time for tree companies, the cheapest time of year to remove a tree is during the winter. February and March are typically the prime time to hire a tree removal pro, and some homeowners living in colder climates can save around 20% off services. It depends on location and the company, but you can always shop around for the best deal.
