"BUYER BEWARE - CHECK YOUR CHEMICALS, et al SOP was fine in the beginning until they hired a completely green person who got my chemicals out of balance. I called Derek as I thought they would want to know to protect the company's reputation. They did send out someone who got the chemicals back in balance for a week and then they sent someone else out who got them back out of balance for several more weeks. I called them weekly to let them know until finally I gave them an ultimatum stating that they had one more chance to get the chemicals right. They then immediately sent us a letter letter saying that they were downsizing and letting us go. However, I saw two ads indicating that they were actually looking for new business (one on Angi's list and one in the mail). Our new pool company says our pool chemicals are grossly out of balance and that our calcium is at 90 rather than 350-400 as required by our fiberglass pool warranty. Very, very disappointing!"

Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

When temperatures drop far enough, even rock salt can’t melt the ice. The briny solution freezes before it develops, and the salt doesn’t work, which happens around 10 to 15 degrees Fahrenheit. Keep in mind that wind chill and other factors impact ice-melting progress. Some ice melters, like magnesium chloride, work at colder temperatures and work better for deep winter freezes.

Schedule regular snow removal, apply salt or sand to icy areas, and mark hazards like curbs or drains.

Yes, most states require that snow removal companies be insured under workers' compensation. This protects the employees financially if an injury were to happen (and when dealing with ice and snow, it’s possible that injury could occur). In addition, most states require snow removal companies to be covered under general liability, which would help cover the cost of any property damage incurred during the removal process.

The easiest way to remove snow from a roof involves using a roof rake that allows you to clear snow from the ground. Roof rakes are lightweight and feature adjustable handles, making them user-friendly for most people. This method also helps prevent ice dams and excess snow buildup, reducing the risk of roof damage during winter months.

When should you remove snow from your roof? A good rule of thumb is once six inches of snow accumulates.

In most cases, it’s worth it to pay for professional snow removal. You can shovel the snow yourself, but it’s very labor-intensive and puts you at risk of injury or illness by performing exhausting manual labor in slippery conditions. Paying a professional removes that risk and saves you time and energy. Depending on your agreement, you could wake up to a cleared driveway and a car that’s ready to drive rather than have to get up early to do the work yourself.
